Nurse doing this after a goal where he was at fault, then Tkachuk shoving him in return, with both being called for another 4-on-4 was the biggest joke of the night IMO. It certainly didn't look like the refs were going to call Nurse prior to Tkachuk skating over and giving him a shove.

This happens, and it should have been an easy call for another Flames PP after scoring with the chance to go up 4-1.

Forcing 4-on-4 situations when they aren't warranted has been brutal so far these playoffs.

Toffoli and Dube were 2 tips away from winning this but we were still outplayed and baited into foolish penalties most of the game.

You can’t win if McDavid owns Hanifin and Markstrom playing scared.

I've never thought about it, but I guess refs must keep the same side all game? It was definitely Chris Lee on our 3rd period goal...was it the other doofus in the 1st period who was at least more open to the possibility that he might suck?
Pretty sure it was Steve ( can't spell his last name ) on Calagrys goal.

Luckily Calgary had a larger split of HDCF and XGF during the two Edmonton games in the regular season than they did at home.

Oilers scored 7 goals I thought the Flames 5 v5 was tops in league

Yes.

When Tkachuk stops the stupid untimely extracurricular stuff we win.

Seems every time he goes out of his way, the team gets punished. He's gotta cut it out. Leave it to the right guys.

Hell I'd be less upset if the reffing was a disaster both ways through the whole game, but it was a disaster one way for 40 minutes and the other way for 20. The whole this is just a mess.

The most concerning thing is that the Flames always stop playing as soon as they go up a couple, that it very worrying.

They can push for a review of a “good goal” and the refs can decide. Or at least that appears to be the rule. I don’t think the nhl calls down. Maybe I’m wrong.

You usually have awful takes, but this one was actually well thought out and perfectly true.

Difference was two breakaways where Hyman goes top shelf and Draisaitl goes post and in. People are blaming Markstrom for those? A bit of bad luck on the GWG, reminded me of the Draisaitl goal in game 1 that was caused by a bounce that went the other way. Zadorov with a rough night.

Also, Flames need to stay out of the box and that includes 4-on-4. All of those after-the-whistle scrums do nothing, especially when the refs are happy to take both guys. Gave up one PP, one SH, and one 4-on-4 goal tonight.

Made the mistake of listening to Hrudey at the intermission; it’s painfully obvious that they’re trying to sell this as the McDavid show even though half the country is already in bed. I’m glad they mention how strong McDavid is on his skates (when he wants to be) and never the little tricks like grabbing the other players stick or using their arm to pull yourself down.

I've been thinking about that, may be try Stone at the point, just keep feeding him and he keeps pounding it. That should open up down low play, because Oilers just collapse down low and very difficult to score.

You don't see McDavid called for participating in those for a reason.

I think it was just undisciplined by 19. Especially given the circumstances.

21 penalties in a playoff game.

Utterly embarrassing for the NHL/Reffing.

Kylington is one of the most unstable on his feet skaters I've ever seen at this level. He needs to work with Fujita (our skating coach) a lot more. He often looks like an octopus flailing over the ice.

Yes we have. They completely dominated the 1st and 3rd periods of game 1, and they looked like they were gonna run away with it in the 1st period tonight before the game devolved into a penalty parade.

The real Flames are in there, but it's tough to roll 4 lines and get their forecheck going when they're constantly on the PK and playing 4 on 4. Staying disciplined will be a very important factor for the rest of this series. Keep things 5 on 5 and the Flames still win this series in 6 games or less IMO.
