I've said it last series, I'm going to say it again. Skate away!!!! Don't get sucked into scrum.

I'm chalking this up to the Universal Law that game 2s cannot go the Flames' way. It doesn't matter how, they just cannot.
It's been that way forever and we should just resign to it to make life easier on ourselves.

That’s because the refs knew they ****ed up.
Continuous missed called in the first half of the third period, namely minor penalties, a missed icing call, and also Smith not having control of the puck when we tapped in the game tying goal. It’s a bunch of bs.

Those calls were soft, but there were legit penalties earlier in each of those plays that went uncalled

21 penalties tonight vs. 9 in the first game. Watching the game didn't seem that different to be honest.

No, Smith had a much easier night than Markstrom. The chances the Flames gave them were just stupid.

Why not even a review?

I agree it should have been reviewed (only because the previous one was, although I didn't understand why) disagree that it should have counted. Whistle was blown, at the very least intention to blow was clearly there.

Mike Smith's Goals Saved Above Expected: 8.5
Jake Oettinger's Goals Saved Above Expected: 10.1
Jacob Markstrom's Goals Saved Above Expected: 1.0
I primarily blame the refs and Markstrom tonight.
Rest of the team just has to be more disciplined. Though I thought they were really just playing typical playoff hockey tonight. Top line wasn't bad, but needs to step it up.
Move on.

I'd say the chance of that happening is hovering around zero percent.
You don't bench a Vezina finalist in the playoffs unless he's horrid or hurt. Markstrom was ok tonight, not spectacular, but not the reason they lost.
He's starting Game 3, no doubt.

McDavid's interference was a no-brainer call that they got right again.
Toffoli's goal that was called back was just blatantly wrong, because the puck was loose the entire time and not jammed out from under Smith illegally. Just a terrible early whistle that would have seen a 4-4 score instead.

This can't be more perfectly said - I have the exact same perspective.

We allowed the second fewest goals against, against the entire NHL.

Tough game, but got to play through it. Reffing was rough and we just couldn’t get into a groove.
Have to be better in game 3 and I’m sure they will be.

Game turned on the 4 on 4 after the 3-1 goal.
Most concerning thing is that Edmonton’s PP1 hasn’t even been a factor yet. That won’t last.
I’m confident the Flames will bring a better game 3.

The NHL product is not good right now in general. Bad officiating. Not a ton of passion. TERRIBLE betting ads constantly. This game was actually kinda boring.
