I just finished re-watching the game on ESPN, tomorrow I'll rewatch via Steve Dangle.
Steve Dangle's stream was pretty fun tonight!

Good to see him having fun enjoying two teams that aren't Titanic- I mean Toronto.

He seemed to have mixed feelings about it at first, but it’s good to see that Milan Lucic finally hates the Oilers.

Apologies if this has already been discussed, but what was the deal with Chucky getting out of the box instead of Kylington?

All 3 ESPN guys, including Dave Jackson the former ref, said the Lucic hit was clean. Loved his game tonight.

"From Rule 19.1:

When multiple penalties are assessed to both teams, equal numbers of minor and major penalties shall be eliminated using the coincidental penalty rule and any differential in time penalties shall be served in the normal manner and displayed on the penalty time clock accordingly

That differential was one of the minor penalties, which the Flames decided would apply to Tkachuk. From 16.2:

When the minor penalties of two players of the same team terminate at the same time, the Captain of that team shall designate to the Referee which of such players will return to the ice first and the Referee will instruct the Penalty Timekeeper accordingly.'

Yep, game went pretty much exactly as I stated in my pre-series post.

- Top line was dominant

- Backlund line looked equally dominant which greatly improves the Flames chances to take this series

- Andersson-Hanifin pairing was much better tonight than at any point in the Stars series, especially Andersson

- Oilers’ could not withstand Flames’ heaviness and physicality and their inability to break out of the zone caused all kinds of turnovers for the Flames

- Key to defending McDavid is to make him defend instead and if I’m not mistaken, he ended up on the ice for 5 goals against. Like the odds of winning a game when that occurs

- Hope the team can continue to stay disciplined though and hopefully Markstrom finally finds his game against the Oilers, just seems like he’s always getting lit up by these guys

Also, really glad Tkachuk had a good start to the series tonight. He probably had the most to prove out of anyone in the line up going into game 1. Had a feeling Tkachuk would make a much bigger impact because the Oilers’ team is built nothing the Stars.

Think Tkachuk is at his best when he can play big. But it’s hard to do that against such a large and heavy Stars lineup. It’s basically all one and dones; so you just end up skating back and forth, back and forth which is 100% not his game.

Against a smaller line up like Oilers however, Tkachuk can check better, cycle more, get to the net more often and gain a lot of offensive zone time which is 100% his game.

I feel like I'm watching Bubbles off Trailer Park Boys and this is mockumentary

That being said they actually criticized McD or at least pointed out the hilarity of being a minus player when you were on the ice for 4 ES goals.

So it's like Bubbles trying to explain to Ricky how you can have the most talented player in the league of give up 18 goals in 2 games and why Edmonton = NG

"Ricky, Were just No Good, It doesn't matter who we have"

But - Nothing will beat "Put Nurse of the 3rd pairing, make him your 7th D man" - Glorious

PSA for fans attending the game: please do not Loooooo when Looch is going in for a hit if the the player he's about to rock hasn't seen him. However, please do Loooooo when the opponent isn't looking, nobody is coming, and we have a forechecker in the slot!

He's not worthy of that much attention. Save it for when he gets a penalty.

Dube and Toffoli were a combined -5, gotta be better next game, especially considering these two aren't getting the toughest matchups.

The Flames scored 8 goals on 47 shots on Smith/Koskinen in 1 game.

The Flames scored 8 goals on 180 shots vs Oettinger in 5 games.

For the first time in months, the Oilers are seeing what it looks like to play a real playoff team. Not LA nor the visiting teams in regular season who were playing their backup goalie on the second night of a back to back in many cases.

Oilers have been riding a new coach bump, a hot Mike Smith and outscoring their problems. Tonight, Flames have shown they can beat the Oilers at their own high scoring style of game too.
