Every year we are in the playoffs, and I've been cheering for this team since I moved here in 1990, it's been primarily heart-ache, and often in the first round.
At the same time, every year I feel like had we just made it out of the first round, we would have done some damage.
It feels like that again this year... if we can get out of this, if we get it together or scrape out just enough of a win, we'll go far. This feels like the hardest round of the playoffs for us, so I just hope the combination of more experience, Sutter and truthfully great hockey both in the regular season and this round, will see us through.

What I'm saying is, if they were good in game 5 and lost. And they play were good this game and we won. The series would still be tied 3-3. For people saying they are going to lose game 7 are a little beyond silly.

Game of bounces and I didn't think the Flames played bad by any stretch, Dallas had their backs against the wall and they won. Gut check time now. I do have a seed of doubt in my heart because well....Ive watched this team for 25+ years...but my head says we are going to do this in game 7.

Game 7. Anything can happen. Heck, Calgary might even win!
Tanev has been off the last couple of games so I wonder if this was just the latest injury. Losing him AND Zadorov would be tough but not insurmountable.
Markstrom let in his first questionable goal of the series; Flames finally get a bounce go into the Dallas net. Biggest issue for me was that the Flames were a tire fire in the second after the 2-2 goal; not sure if that was because Tanev left, or maybe Dallas found another gear, but it was the most dominant I’ve seen Dallas this whole series. Sutter can’t be happy about that, and they couldn’t turn it around in the third (they looked a little tired IMO, and I wonder if playing 11 forwards is starting to take a physical toll… might explain the terrible faceoffs as well). Going back to 12/6 might take some of the load off for Game 7.
Looking back, if Tkachuk can score in the first instead of hitting the post, or if Stone can connect on that grade A chance in the first, it might be a different game. Backlund had a great chance in the third (on a great feed by Johnny) — maybe we should stop trying to score on his blocker side?!?
Sometimes the hockey gods are a little fickle like that. I mean, what are the odds the Flames and Oilers would have opposite results for six straight games?!?

Here’s the thing…hockey in the Salary Cap era is mostly random. The playoffs the last couple seasons are mostly proof of that, one bounce here or there changes everything.
Over the last three seasons the best teams in the league have a 54% expected goals for ratio, and the worst teams in the league have a 46% expected goals for ratio.
That’s a minimal difference in the big scheme of things…every hockey game is pretty much a toss up. Generally are you confident that something you expect to happen 54% of the time is going to happen?
You see that randomness in this playoffs so far. 5 series are tied 3-3. Florida won in 6 but Washington could have easily won that series in 5 if they didn’t blow late third period leads. STL vs Minnesota was a toss up but Minnesota got poor goaltending. Colorado-Nashville was the only definitive series and that’s probably a lot closer with Saros in net.
I’m serious when I say that Hockey games are mostly random and luck plays a huge factor. We’re a soft Markstrom goal and a Oettinger stick knob away from a much different discussion tonight.
Unfortunately for Flames fans the hockey gods have never seemed to shine favourably on us.

Way too many posters talking like we just lost game 7. A little disconcerting to see Heiskanen picking up some confidence, given how we have shut him down, but the flames can take game 7. Get back to the team we saw in game 5. They need the crowd making tons of noise and getting up off their *sses to cheer though.

Hopefully this means the Oil will lose Game 7 and the Flames will win.

I'm with you, although my gut tells me we pull it out on Sunday, my heart expects to be heartbroken. Regardless of the result though, can we expect to do any damage when Tkachuk and Taffoli aren't producing? Even though Taffoli isn't the greatest skater, i'm shocked at the lack of production. Tkachuk I was worried about because this is far too common with him, but holy hell pick it up. Johnny is playing well, creating chances, Tkachuk is doing nothing.

Score favoured the Flames. Markstrom kept it close.
They generated very little after DAL took the lead. Looked tired.
Was praying for a flukey goal so we could get it to OT and try steal the game.

Forget 2006
In 89 the Flames won at home in game 7 and the Oilers lost to the Kings in game 7.
Flames smoked the Kings in round 2

My eyes are fine. Toffoli is slow and disrupt the flow.
Now he can’t handle the puck and rarely make a good pass.
He can shoot but rest of his game is impacting his shot now too

That makes them "not a playoff team"
They did have a lot of good looks, especially in the first

K for Sunday,
I'd have Jarnkrok bumped to the wing or just not taking draws because we need to win some faceoffs.
And I'd have the Backlund line from game 5.
Otherwise we're fine. We've shown that we have the ability in that room.
