I was curious about how we sounded on TV because from the seats, it sounded LOUD. But read a few posts here that we were disappointing in terms of being loud. Starting to think it has more to do with the SN sound levels. Felt like the chants were starting every 6-7 minutes.

SN broadcast quality has been garbage for a long time so I'm not surprised if the excitement from the stands wasn't adequately represented to the tv audience. It was pretty nuts at the done last night and an exceptional experience. I don't think I could ask for anything more from the fans during the third period.

I posted a stressed out Homer gif between goals 1 & 2, I was disappointed I didn't make the Wall.
That’s the spirit! I just discovered the WOS and found it to be comical. I interpreted the WOS as a playful way to remind us of how our negative predictions fail. It’s good to vent and I appreciate the negativity as a healthy response to the emotions of being a fan. It’s good to reflect on this later and the WOS is the spotlight for this.

ATL is masterful and Gaskel makes being apart of Calgarypuck worth the constant refresh. And my god was I ever refreshing the screen lastnight! Waiting for a ReggieDunlop psychic post.

We even kept with the chants in the 1st and 2nd to try and urge the boys on, despite them not being able to generate much at all.

Its one thing to make fun of Oilers fans in the OOT post, which is great. But having people run around here pointing fingers at eachother deteriorates this place. I see no benefit to it. Not many comments in here this morning are actually about the game.
Geez. I don't see it that way at all. I really don't think those not on the WOS feel ANY superiority over those on it. At least I don't. Because those not on it know full well they would be on it if we said what's on our mind when the team is terrible! WE ALL have those disillusioned feelings. Even when we are trying to be positive. That's what's funny.

You can't help what you feel i guess, but folks need to step back and laugh a little more.

It is amazing that people do not see themselves becoming everything they proclaim to hate and attempt to ridicule. The evolution has been slow, but extremely painful to watch. It started with the juvenile Around the League report, but was accepted because it mined Oiler fans' salt. But that evolved into something silly and painful to see, making believe our fans were any better or different than others (we're not). The epitome of that evolution is the Wall of Shame - the taking of out of context in-the-moment comments and attempting to ridicule people for their fandom - simply because it does not comply with a certain brand of blind homerism demanded by the self-proclaimed "cool kids". Even when a lot of the comments on that "wall" are accurate for what was happening in the game at the time. What is next? Thread bans because you have the audacity to challenge the narrative established by the thread thought police, just like they do on HF Oil? This place used to be about diversity of opinion and thought. Now its devolved into a bunch of high school mean girls who think they are so fetch, when they are actually the lamest thing around. Come on CP, we're better than that. When we start eating our own - like they do at that other site - we have become what we hate most.
Maybe it's just me, but I felt that what made CP unique was that if you weren't prepared to vigorously defend your argument, that there would be a bunch of nerds with too much time and data on their hands ready to tear your argument apart. This ensured high-quality posting, at least among good-faith actors, people who would actually feel shame if they were exposed for having a poorly thought-out opinion.

When people get lazy with their criticisms and just say "lol you're an idiot", well that effect goes away. It's easy to dismiss that. "No, you are!"

Maybe we need to be more rigorous in our shaming, but there's nothing to be gained by just letting the truly outrageous comments slide.

As for the Wall of Shame, I've had this idea of doing an "Around the Game Thread Report". The scope would've been a lot wider, with room for positivity and fun, but since I'm not actually putting in the effort, I don't get to impose my vision on what form it would take.

That would certainly be easier to get behind. The constantly negative "Told you so" posters who pretend to be fans, having it thrown back in their face.
I just hate to see passionate fans ride the emotional rollercoaster together, and then be mocked for it. If there aren't lows, there can't be highs, and fans should be allowed to express both.

With that being said, comments like, "Tanev looking off. That's 3 times so far tonight he has had possession and made bad turnovers in our zone" is perfectly fine, and TBH was 100% true from last night, he didn't have his strongest game.
Comments like, "They sure as hell ain’t playing like men", "useless", "I don't mind losing" literally adds zero value to the discussion and should absolutely be shamed.
100% on the ATL remark. Its hypocritical to be fine with one and not the other. And if names were on the ATL I don't think it would make a difference to people either.

Will you please start another thread or let the W of S discussions die. Looking to creep on discussions about the game, not filter 70 posts about hurting peoples feelings with a Wall of Shame.

Did you start an account just to complain in your very first posts?

That's Wall worthy.

Lots of loud and sustained GFG chants, tried "Let's go, Flames, let's go" a few times, and less than the average number of "Refs, you suck!" chants. Then to goals came, and the place exploded, eventually leading to an epic "Ott-inger" hex, complete with the hand waves aimed directly at the Stars' goalkeeper. Listing to the highlights after the game, the broadcast audio was definitely a poor representation of the atmosphere inside the dome. It was deafening at times.

Been a lot of calls like this during the playoffs. Players trap the opposing players stick under their arm and then fall down claiming 'hook OMG ref, the hooking!'

Can't figure out who is dumber. The refs who keep falling for it, or the Dallas players who tried to pull it again and got scored on.

Morons.

Oh, good game.

EDIT: Can't post a bloody picture. See link above.
At this point I think it is a go to strategy for the Stars. Off the top of my head at least two penalties have been them holding the stick under the arm....both on Backs I think.

Yeah I would suggest if this WoS thing keeps going, is to take the poster names out of the text content, so it doesn't look like you're attacking posters personally. And like what yourbestfriend said, shame should only go to those posts that are negative and provide zero discussion value to the thread. I personally rarely post in GDTs, but I am not a fan of reading 4 pages of people being upset by this. This should be a time we should be happy about the Flames run.

The ATL is great, because it gives a glimpse into the salt mines of our foes and rivals, from outside of CP, after a positive outcome.
Mocking our own community for being frustrated during stretches of poor play does not seem productive, or fun. Not to mention most of it has already been viewed by active members. So all you're doing is dragging negativity in to what should be a positive PGT for the less active members and lurkers to see.
The creator put his own name on the wall...and its only after wins so not really negative. We learn pretty quickly who is just here to kick the Flames when they are down...maybe some Oiler fans posing as Flames fans

Its a 32 team league and 1 wins...and you bet your ass there will be some posters saying I told you so and patting themselves on the back should the Flames not be #1 out of 32

The game started out bad. Zad with a WTF penalty. Tried to keep it loud but pretty hard without destroying your voice. Beer does not help sore vocal chords btw. When the chants were going, they were the loudest I've ever heard.

I think Harvey was trying to start a wave but it ended up sounding like one section on the 2nd tier was groaning in pain.
I wish I would have taken a pic of the opening sequence with the flashing cell phones. That was impressive.

I can't believe Lewis got to that puck. It didn't look like the Dallas player made a huge effort.
