Yeah OK.
Ya I maintain that the 2nd period was indeed painful to watch. I'll stand by that and will say it again if it happens.

The key with the wall of shame is to not take it seriously. It's not actually about shame. It's a fun way to post about the amusing mood swings as the game progresses. It's fun and funny and if you make the Wall you should be happy.

I posted a stressed out Homer gif between goals 1 & 2, I was disappointed I didn't make the Wall.

I don’t like the wall of shame. There’s only a couple of actual bad actor posters here and everyone already knows who they are. Everybody else just like to be dramatic which should be celebrated.

So I give you the True Believers

GullFoss deserves some credit........was very optimistic and calm the entire GT. Impressive, and ended up being entirely correct.

Or people can go to the Flames discord where negativity and memes fly by and it's part of it. Boards like calgarypuck and hf will enshrine your negativity forever in the threads which have much lower levels of activity so you will stand out.

As for myself, I certainly felt all the negative emotions during the game but I wouldn't want to post them. The most interesting thing is the Dallas reaction at the same time is full of negativity as well even when they were ahead. They hate their style of defensive play and Bowness.

Read through the wall of shame. The large majority of it was a truthful description of how they were playing in the first two periods... no shame in that. Don't see the appeal of encouraging nothing but undiluted homerism. Maybe you should put Darryl on there too for saying the top line had no pace.

I'm also pretty sympathetic to long-time fans who have seen _a lot_ of round 1 heartbreak and playoff futility over the years. It's hard not to feel like you're cursed or doomed to repeat history when you go down 2-1 in a series, or 1-0 in a game in a low-scoring series where 4/4 the first team to score has won. Expressions of frustration can be cathartic.

I recieved this DM, in response to which I clarified some details about The Wall to. I'm sharing it here for every one I think will clarify some aspects of it to others as well:

Not that I mind, if you feel it adds to the experience of the Wall.

Part of the joke is including the obviously sarcastic or jinx comments.

Think of it as if a religious band of nutjobs that don't get sarcasm were to police all remarks made by people and flag everything they saw as suspicious (like the faith militant in GOT).

Don't worry, that was fully understood lol.

I've also deleted parts of other comments to make them look more damning because there is no context.

Basically it's the Flames version of if the Oilers OBC if they were given reigns to monitor every ones comments and had no sense of humour.... creating, ironically, a humorous shame wall.

I dislike the wall of shame idea, don't really find it amusing, I don't care if people overreact during the game. Playoff hockey is emotional and if the Flames have a bad period I can understand the mood swings. Doesn't bother me at all.
I also think that some people are getting too caught up in I told you so mentality or playing gotcha in the threads, and that's actually been a problem around here for a long time, so I just see this as furthering that problem.

And then when I come back to the board the day after a big win and want to see some good analysis and opinions of the game, instead I'm reading about who said what, etc. I'm here for the hockey talk.

I'm laughing out loud how sensitive some people are. How DARE YOU quote something I posted it's not what I really meant. Also if you don't like the WOS don't expand the spoiler tag.

It adds no value to the hockey discussion. The only purpose it serves is to have some posters have the ability to signal their superiority over other posters. And if anyone is sensitive, its the folks that can't let go of a random comment halfway through the first period of a game that is now long over.

Its one thing to make fun of Oilers fans in the OOT post, which is great. But having people run around here pointing fingers at eachother deteriorates this place. I see no benefit to it. Not many comments in here this morning are actually about the game.

I get what you mean, it's easy to play the "i told you so" after a win, but I doubt a wall of shame will be posted after a loss. Then the "i told you so" would be reversed. I wonder if the WoS will help posters be more positive during the games. Similar to how a lot of oiler fans don't rage post about the Flames anymore, because they know they are being ridiculed on another forum about it.

So on the tying goal, what is with Heiskanen having Suter's stick under his arm and not letting go? Trying to draw a penalty? What a stupid play. Maybe focus more on defending than trying to job the refs.

https://imgur.com/3HPdOnA

Been a lot of calls like this during the playoffs. Players trap the opposing players stick under their arm and then fall down claiming 'hook OMG ref, the hooking!'

Can't figure out who is dumber. The refs who keep falling for it, or the Dallas players who tried to pull it again and got scored on.

Morons.

Oh, good game.

EDIT: Can't post a bloody picture. See link above.

Or keep the WOS in the GT later, why bring it in here. How many people that don’t post in the GT actually read it?
