MOD and map updates. Ukrainians reportedly advanced north of Kharkiv today making significant gains pushing Russians out of artillery range of the city. There are unconfirmed reports that the Ukrainians have managed to advance all the way to the pre-Feb Ukrainian border at Ternova NE of Kharkiv near Staryi Saltiv, and within 10km of the border near Udy NW of the Kharkiv. If true the Ukrainians may be in a position to disrupt Russian lines of communications at Vovchansk.
Fighting still happening sporadically in Kherson near Mykolaiv and bombing in Mariupol with the defenders still surprisingly holding out after 3 months.
Ukrainians appear to have started pushing back around Russian lines near Hulyaipole SE of Zaporizhzhia.
There are indications Russia is looking to annex all the lands its taken so far with reports of Russian passports now being issued out of Kherson now.
Russian civilians set a ferris wheel on fire in Kiev - terrorists.
Ukrainian civilians set a ferris wheel on fire in Moscow - heroes
Palestinians civilians set a ferris wheel on fire in Tel Aviv - terrorists
Palestinian civilians set a ferris wheel on fire in Damascus - who cares.
Am I wrong?
I would have no problem with a Russian setting fire to a Ukrainian ferris wheel if it meant they werent raping and murdering Women, Children and the Elderly. Burn the ####ing ferris wheel, its all yours.

Palestinians and Russians likely don't set fires to ferris wheels, they might blow it up with people on it though!
The Jews call Palestinians terrorists because of years of missile attacks and suicide bombers.
All Ukraine did to get this treatment was to try to become democratic, Putin and his large military are the terrorists here.

Right. All that Israel ever wants is peace - oh and to keep expanding Jewish only settlements on illegally occupied Palestinian land. Not sure why the Palestinians would ever launch attacks on Israeli civilians. It must be because they teach their children to hate.
I'm sure if Ukraine was completely occupied by Russia and Moscow started approving Russian only settlements on Ukrainian land, the West would be far more sympathetic to Ukrainian attacks of all kinds on Russian soil.

Funny considering Israel just killed an Al Jazeera journalist. Israel has more in common with Russia than Ukraine, but they’re favoured by Americans so they get a pass as another group of “chosen” people that get to do whatever they want in the world without repercussion and with everything excused as just and reasonable.
The more people wish to paint “all good” or “all bad” with broad brushes, the dumber they show themselves to be and the worse the world becomes as more terrible things are done in the name of “good.” World is bit more nuanced than that.

What's the Godwin's Law equivalent to the mention of Israel/Palestine whenever there's a conflict in the world? Surely this exists because it seems to happen every time.

I think it's called the Nage Waza Law.

Unreal... Russians fell for a trap and lose nearly a battalion of equipment troops trying to cross a river. Ukrainians may have taken out a third of the Russian generals, but another third will face the firing squad for incompetence.

1,000,000% correct. People are just people. But people are tribal.
President and PM of Finland released a united declaration that Finland in their opinion should join NATO. While this has no technical meaning, it effectively makes it official that we're doing this. Public support for joining recently also hit a record 75%. The parliamentary votes needed will be there. NATO'S support for the idea is confirmed, and some preparatory agreements are already signed.
The rest is pretty much bureaucracy. Sweden expected to follow very soon.

What was support before the invasion, about 35%?
Good job, Putin.

The river crossing debacle is something that is simply just unfathomable to think of how utterly stupid Russian military command is.
"Cross the river"
"Bunch up together and make a chokepoint"
"Keep going"
"Bridge destroyed? Your commanding officer has made an order! Cross the river or be shot of treason"
They do everything without proper support and every order is linear. The VDV which was their elite troops were slaughtered like cattle after being dropped in behind enemy lines with zero support early in the war
That they are still trying an offense with clearly no means of being able to sustain such an offense anymore is mind boggling.
There isn't even a battle comparable in WWII to the utter incompetence of Russia. Can't even rank the battle of Cannae from the Punic Wars as incompetence of this magnitude, Russians are basically lemmings. I mean god, this level of utter historical incompetence will be talked about centuries from now.
They must really, really want to encircle Sievierodonetsk to waste so many resources. Though unfortunately they did eventually manage to get across the river. Between that and Popansa falling to the Russians, and they might actually be able to accomplish that. But it's still such a tiny amount of land all things considered:
