I think Sutter is going to have one of his little infamous 1 on 1s with John on their travels in the next two days.

The kind that players from his winning teams would talk about that helped them hit reset and take off in the post-season.

You guys really need to stop comparing a Sutter-coached team to Ward/Peters/Gulutzan teams.

2 games in and the Flames don't have an even strength point. That's not hard fought. That's no fight at all.
That player scored 0 even strength points on 26 occasions and that team had a positive goal differential on 46 occasions. I’m not exactly shocked that it happened.

I was freaking appalled at the lack of red tonight.

And, 4 on 4s killed the game. Flames couldnt get the 4th line out and get some momentum back.

There were more tickets available for this game, with many seats empty for the whole game. I'm thinking this was more of a "hey, I have an extra ticket(s) to tonights game if you wanna go" type of crowd, compared to game 1.

Which would explain more casual fans grabbing whatever jersey they had.

When the Flames used to charge semi reasonable prices for round 1 it was all hardcore fans, every game. Now that they're comfortable at the $400-$500 mark for lower bowl, most of the best and hardcore fans won't be in the building, and you'll get more random friends and family of wealthier people and employees that don't care all that much but got free tickets.

If the flames play more like this they’re going to lose this series and we can toss yet another first round exit on the pile.
The opponent has also scored one goal, so neither wins?

Backlund hasn't scored in 19 games. Toffoli hasn't scored in 11. Jarnkrok 0 in 19 as a Flame. Lucic hasn't scored in 24. Then you have guys like Coleman and Mangiapane who have been ok offensively in the last 6-7 weeks but certainly have room for improvement. Guys don't have to be world beaters but you can't disappear either. Everyone needs to chip in. Not sure why there's so much offence being taken to people pointing out the obvious that there are a number of Flames who need to be much, much better.

I just cut believe we have 1 goal after 2 games. Just mind blowing.

lol this thread is really showing who the true fans of this team are and who the trolls are. The series is tied. They've scored one goal with our goalie in net in 2 games and some of you are ready to write this team off.

Yes you have every right to be concerned as a fan given what's happened since the Colorado series but saying things like "shouldn't have traded for ______" this early into a series where we've been the better team overall is embarrassing.

I haven't seen some of these posters ever in my time here...

I don't trust people that just mysteriously come out of the woodwork after a tough loss to give overly pessimistic takes.

6 of 8 series are knotted. Almost 7.

Dallas has like 35 shots in 2 games. We were beat by one deflection. It could be going so, so much worse.

And the Saddeledome ice is terrible with the nicer weather and full building.
Top line relies on crisp passes and precise plays and a puck bobble, which was happening all game, but especially the first when they were buzzing kills the play hurt the confidence.
So many bobbled passes and the ice definitely looked like it played a part. Makes you wonder if that's part of the reason there were so few goals.

i think it was hannifin with the blind pass up the boards right to the dallas player setting up the goal, you can't make those mistakes in the playoffs, that didn't happen and we're 0-0 in OT. Frustrating to give them the gwg on a brain fart

If Dallas has better ice, then I think that plays into our hands.

####in slip n' slide out there.

It was terrible tonight and reason a), hockey wise why we need a new rink. Go back and watch the first period and see how many breakout passes or cross ice zone passes on the PP slipped and bobbled and forced our top line to take the extra two seconds to control the puck or get it back and have to reset.

Puck bounced and bobbled and after shift after shift in the first and second and any chance for opportunities for killed from the start for our top line.

I expect that won't be an issue in Dallas, which is embarassing.
