To each their own I guess. I personally don't see the need or appeal of turning the Dome into something like this:

Sure you can.

You’re associating fandom with soccer which is fair as it’s the most popular. But European style fandom extends to all sports and I found hockey had little if any of the hooligan style fandom - perhaps in the more die hard areas.

It was lots of drums and chants and individual songs. I was at one game and said to my Swedish friend that the atmosphere was so great and different than Canada. He said, yeah well because all Americans want to do at games is eat. And that hit hard lol

Hell even Asian sporting events are a better atmosphere

Yes, because over here our sports organizations are tapping into the top 20% of society at every opportunity and keeping the rest at home and in bars.

Why does the atmosphere in hockey arenas in North America need to match what an entirely different culture does?

Nothing better than an inorganic atmosphere….

Just wear Red. Everything else is secondary, wear Red. Simple.

True, but shouting “C” and “Red” during the anthem didn’t. It started in 2008-2010 ish. That’s what we’ve been talking about.

How do people still not understand the "red" part of C of Red? A family of four sat next to us in the lower bowl wearing regular blue / brown / gray street clothes. They knew some other people in the section that were decked out in red everything, so it's not like they were from another country / hemisphere. And then there's the guy who decides to wear the camouflage Flames jersey. It is GREEN. And the guy with the St. Patrick's Day version of the Flames jersey. It is also GREEN. I mean, if we can't get something as simple of wearing red to the game, how can we expect anything more complicated to catch on?

What's the deal with the oversized plastic gold chain with a giant Flaming C on it? I saw dozens of people wearing them as if they were Flavor Flav. I assume those are new?

They were selling it at the Dome for $35 bucks I think. I saw a ton of people with it.

Ya, they are new. I think the CGY store was selling them but they sold out before the start of the game.

Holy ####, seriously $35 for that?

My wife and I were at the game and we were marveling at how many people had those on, and I literally said this to her "Wow, someone must have been giving those away somewhere as part of a promo or something. I don't imagine anyone would pay money for that"

And now I'm the idiot

Up in Edmonton they sell the gold chains and they come with gold buck teeth....not that you'd ever notice that with the sweat pants, wife beaters and nice shoes.
