I really hope Klingberg is telling the truth that the Stars are going to go after Andersson now. Would love nothing more than for Dallas to focus on getting even versus one guy instead of getting even in the series!

When it doesn’t match the intensity of the moment it comes off as lame and ignorant.
Lame and ignorant is a bit much, but what it's not is supportive of the team, at least not in that situation.

Meh, that’s how I feel about it.

But on the flip side, people can do whatever the heck they want. I can also be annoyed by it. All good.

Can we rename this thread to its proper title: “the wave: yay or nay”.

That hit by Tkachuk on Klingberg was such a beauty… but man is Klingberg lucky he wasn’t in that position with the next flames line that would have been coming out because Lucic/Ritchie could have put him through the glass in that spot - 3 feet from the boards just beside the net and not braced for a hit? Could have been so much worse.

You want me to just stop being superstitious? I literally know that nothing I do has any effect on the game. Am I any less superstitious? No. In fact it amps up during playoffs.

You don't say shutout during the game, you don't do the wave until the victory is secure, you wear red to playoff games and scream you GD head off.

I don't care for the wave, but don't begrudge people doing it.

The worst is when fans say shut out for the opposing team's goaltender. That's not how it works.

Maybe the Stars were distracted by the wave and that's why they couldn't muster any shots on goal at the end of the game?

It's a frustratingly omissive piece, as like has been mentioned, if you didn't know the score you would have thought the Stars completely outplayed the Flames.

Summed up, the article is basically "World baffled as Flames win game in spite of Dallas being the best defensively!"

Like it mentions how good Oettinger was while saying Markstrom wasn't very busy. Then how does that make Dallas better defensively?!

Flames limited to 26 shots and no chances off the rush, but skips by the fact that Dallas went the first half of the first period and the last half of the last period without a shot, and kept to just 16 total. How does THAT make Dallas better defensively?!

No mention of how the top line (which as mentioned clearly in the article Dallas shut down in tremendous fashion) managed to lock Oettinger in his net for the last minute of play, keeping Dallas from even getting the 6th man on the ice, let alone being set up.

Dallas maybe was a lucky bounce or a bad breakdown away from tying the game, but the Flames were the better team, period. And a few of those saves Oettinger made could easily have been goals and then it's a whole different game with Dallas down 2 or 3 to nothing. I just can't get over the bias in the sports media.

Just remember that the obvious and opaque media bias creates the circumstances for Sutter to leverage the underdog narrative, which only reinforces a higher work ethic every game and may actually be necessary for the Flames to win. Personally, I get uncomfortable when the media runs around singing the teams praises too much, because then I see Tkachuk making cutesy / risky passes instead of playing how he needs to play, like he did last night.

Probably b/c it was also on SNP.

CBC national kept the Pens/Rags.

I would like to see the Wave banned. Anyone who attempts to start one is escorted from the facility by security (armed if necessary).

I saw a individual wave instigator a few rows down from me.

She got up from her seat and tried to start it all by herself a few times.

A few morning after thoughts:

- Thinking about the Andersson/Klingberg fight. I doubt either player knew they were going to get thrown out, but I'm 100% certain Andersson doesn't drop the gloves if its some 4th line plug. At least with Klingberg its a reasonably even trade (both are on PP1); I do think it kind of messed things up for both teams for the rest of the game having to rotate 5D (Calgary has better depth but we also have more established pairings overall so those got disrupted).

- Not sure if anyone mentioned it but they had to resurface the ice twice prior to the third period. I read it was because it was hotter inside the Dome than they were expecting? I guess with all the people and the +17 temperature outside, the coolers had to work overtime yesterday.

- Regardless of how you feel about the wave, hopefully we see a lot more of it this spring because it probably means we're ahead and, more importantly, still playing games.

I'm trying to figure out how this even works for Dallas? publicly announce you are 'going after' the other team's top pairing Dman? is the plan to intimidate the Flames? seems unlikely...confuse the officials?

I mean fine I guess, 'go after him'...

They had to resurface because you can’t stop a Flame when it’s red hot.
