You don't even have to normalize the total TOI, if you normalize PP TOI, McDavid's lead is gone. Here is what the scoring race would currently look like, if all these players had the same PP TOI as McDavid and Draisaitl:

Gaudreau 113
Matthews 110
McDavid 110
Tkachuk 107
Draisaitl 105

There is literally nothing between any of these players with respect to points for the season. The only thing keeping McDavid and Draisaitl where they are is their extra time on the PP (about an extra 60 minutes' worth)

Hard to pick a true Hart candidate list but for sure Mathews and McDavid (if he wins the Art Ross) will be there, just for the league to ensure that there is fan interest league-wide. If Mathews makes the ballot, he is the likely winner. Really it comes down to who gets the 3rd spot. Hoping Johnny can make it on but there are honestly more candidates this season then I can remember. I'm sure Pred's fans will say the same about Josi. A 'generational' season by a d-man adding to his HOF career.
There is no short list “ballot”

The “finalists” are the top 3 vote getters, and there is no other voting.

Yup.

And the awards are season long based so really the last 6 or 7 games really shouldnt have a big effect on anything.

My guess is most of these things are decided already even if voting hasn't actually occurred.

Matthews is home and cooled IMO. Johnny 2nd.

Shesterkin the same for Vezina. Markstrom 2nd.

Likely Josi for the Norris but Makar will get a lot of votes as well.

Sutter for the Adams but in a close vote. Brunette and Sullivan along with Boudreau will be in the mix.

Bergeron will get the Selke with Lindholm a distant 2nd.

The Score did a story about Johnny having the most ES points and counting since Jagr in 1995-1996. Whether he wins the Hart or not its still quite an accomplishment and Flames fans know what's up.

Johnny is getting the late season momentum with the very constituency most easily swayed by bandwagon voting.

I believe Gerard Gallant will be top 3 in Adams vote.

They might as well give Johnny Hockey the Hart Trophy to keep permanently. Hell... the sport itself is already named after him!

it's definitely an interesting season

there is one camp/school of thought that Shesterkin should be runaway Hart winner as the Rangers aren't sniffing the playoffs without him

but then they have Kreider with 50 goals, Panarin going to be one of 3 players to put up historic LW playmaking numbers, Fox doing Fox things

little doubt they are doing better than many would have predicted- someone will get the credit I'm not sure who!!

(for the record I don't follow the Rangers much and don't pretend to know the real secret sauce there)

Yup, even Glenn Healy isn't calling him Johnny Shinny now.

No one should ever care what Glenn Healy has to say about anything.

You can guarantee JG will not get a single vote from the media up north. Their votes will go to McD, Pissy, Nurse, Stinkeye and Kane. Going to be hard to be a finalist, no matter how good he is.

I wonder how many votes the oilers media has for the hart. Does Calgary media have as many?

Eric Francis will not vote for Johnny because if he wins, it'll make him look even worse with his constant dumbass predictions.

I wonder if Ryan Pike is willing to share who he's going to vote for.

Could be the year of runner-ups for the flames.
Gaudreau: hart
Markstrom: vezina
Lindholm: Selke

All 3 could win but it's more like they finish 2-3

You can add Gaudreau to the Art Ross runner up as well. It looks like he will finish top 3.

I don't think so.
I think Sutter wins it.

I think people across the league know what he's done with
this team with mostly the same players.

I guess it depends on if team out performed their expectations while also fighting a lot of injuries to star players.

That's about the only knock on Sutter, so to speak. He hasn't had to coach through injuries.

Gaudreau would probably need to lead the league in scoring to get it... which is a long shot with so few games left. Matthews will win it.

Why is it a long shot? He's only 3 pts behind and has been on fire lately while McDavid has cooled off.
