Idiots, that could have bought a pretty sweet downtown arena instead.

Russia seems bad at this war thing. Tbh they mostly have always been except when being invaded. Hopefully this gives notice to anyone else thinking of flexing their might (cough China) that they could get drug down and lose tens of thousands of soldiers from trying to take over other countries. I think this has shown that a large army just doesn’t do what you think it would do anymore. Not that Russia is a good example with their corruption and siphoning things off the military for their own personal gain.

Russia seems to be running an old WWII style war. Just charge lots of men and weaponry at the opponent and hope to overwhelm them. Drones and the combo of real time intel and javelin missiles have made that strategy totally useless.
This whole thing reminds me of the story my social studies teacher told me about the Polish using horse mounted cavalry against German tanks.
Ukraine is clearly a technological and organizational step up from the groups Russia was fighting in Syria, Georgia, Chechnya, etc.., and Russia has no way to adapt. We all knew Russia was no longer capable of winning a conventional war against the US, but it's insane just how far they have fallen.

Russian war tv is getting a bit unhinged, the sense they're losing has to be creeping in now.

Likely so to hide incompetence by Russian ground control. It's quite possible that ground control screwed up.

MOD updates for the day. With yesterday's sinking of the Moskva, Russia has been forced to withdraw the majority of the naval forces further away from the Ukrainian coast, likely to Sevastopol, further limiting the Russian navy's ability to provide useful support to Russian ground forces.
No confirmed changes in control between the two sides today in Kherson, Mariupol, or Izium today. MOD however is reporting increased use of artillery fire by Russian forces.

The stupid thing is if they just accepted that and sent 6 or 700,000 soldiers over by foot and told them they would have to eat what they found the Russians would probably be on the Polish border by now, it is their modern gear that is getting destroyed, your basic squaddie with a rifle is all but immune to javalins and drones

I’m hoping this type of broadcast is all for Russian consumption, softening up the Russian populace for the eventual story of we are losing this war because we weren’t really trying.
And America is bad, so support Putin.

Quote:
Ukrainian authorities announced Thursday that they had seized a sum of 154 assets from pro-Kremlin opposition politician and mogul Viktor Medvedchuk, who was captured this week following an escape from house arrest shortly after Russia invaded Ukraine.
Among the long list of property seized from Medvedchuk and his family: 30 plots of land, 23 houses, 32 apartments, 26 cars and one yacht.
The seizures add further intrigue to the circumstances of the escape and recapture of one of Ukraine’s most notorious oligarchs, known for his close relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who acts as godfather to Medvedchuk’s daughter.
Despite humble beginnings, Medvedchuk was one of the richest people in Ukraine. He appeared to enjoy a lavish life: After escaping his house arrest in a mansion at an upmarket spa town near Kyiv in February, activists found that the location housed an ornate replica of a 19th-century railway dining car, replete with a gold-gilded toilet and bidet hose.
Ukrainian authorities had already charged Medvedchuk with treason last year and placed him under house arrest, freezing some of his assets. As tensions increased between Russia and Ukraine, the opposition leader was accused of taking part in Russian plans to impose a puppet government on Ukraine.

It's insane the control he has over the media, I'm starting to think unless Putin is taken out the world as we know it is about to be in grave danger.

The other people on the panel don't look very impressed by what he is saying. I would be interested to know what they said.
Unrelated to that, Trump just pisses me off to no end:
