Columbus and the Yotes have each beaten the AVs twice. Any given night…
Everything tightens up in the playoffs.
The Flames play a very good playoff style game.
The key will be the performance of the Flames top guys. Stating the obvious, they need to be miles better than tonight.

Backlund line was the best tonight.
Lucic went back to being crappy.

Lucic needs to rest a game or 2 or 3.

3rd round of the playoffs are the least of my worries
1st round will be tough, Flames opponent will probably have right around the same number of wins as Calgary
IF the Flames are in round three a lot will be going right

On replay there were 3 guys to the side so I think it must have been a planned play for a side tip.

If Columbus could sweep Tampa in 2019 then the same could very well happen to Colorado.
Kuemper is no Vasalevsky either. There was talk at the deadline that Colorado was exploring trying to get Fleury because they didn't trust him.

If we get their A games, I'd say chances are decent, even good.
Big if though. They have a lot to prove.
Gaudreau wasn't a factor tonight. If that's a playoff audition, that's not encouraging. But he will have to be a way better player if these teams meet 3 rounds in, so that won't be a concern in a hypothetical CGY-COL matchup.

Kuemper is for sure a "weak" spot, but Francouz is actually pretty good too. Certainly good enough to come in and steal a game or two if Kuemper turns into a pumpkin.

Ack.. I said it.
Handles the puck like a potato these days.
Love the guy. It's just not happening. He might be worse than Monahan since the five hole trick went away.

Decent game. Flames pk hasn't been as strong as usual past few games.
Onto the next one...

PK goals were a couple easily correctable mistakes...difference in the game
Flames allowed almost nothing 5 on 5

We need him and his leadership for the playoffs. But he definitely needs some games off. Been terrible lately

Tough to win games with one goal.
That was the difference in the game.

Well they had about 5 chances to get the puck out of the zone on the first goal...its at least OT without that one.
Darryl feels the same way, PK was the difference...rest of the game was even
Its really not that tough to win games 1-0 when you don't give up any chances, Avs had nothing 5 on 5

Sometimes you just don’t win. The Flames didn’t play a bad game, but even the best teams can’t win every game. We didn’t play a good 3rd period but it would have probably been enough to beat most other teams.
Move on and get ready for the next game.

Last two games versus the Avs, Flames have taken 91 shots and Kuemper has saved 90.
Would be a pretty Herculean effort by him to keep that going through an entire playoff series, so I'm not too worried. Of course it can and does happen that a goalie wins a series singlehandedly so it's not impossible.

Those referees destroyed the integrity of professional hockey tonight (oh the drama).
Kadri dove, and they called it a penalty against Lindholm.
In response, they did not call an egregious tripping call on Andersson (?) only for the play to turn up ice so that they could then call a penalty against the Avs for tripping.
The referees are the biggest issue facing the game of hockey.
#%^*ing clown shoes.

Yep. That was garbage.
I don't care if the call went our way, the trip on the Avs player was super obvious. You can't not call that because the Avs have had the last few pp, then turn around and call the equally obvious call going the other way, that never should have happened.
