Too many sharp-angle shots on both the PP and the 6-on-4 at the end of the game. Those shots have to start behind the net and get angle from in front...too little to shoot at with Kuemper hugging the post.

The Aves will have to go through Dallas/Vegas and Minnesota to get to the third round. That’s going to be tough on them. I’ll take Nashville and LA/Edmonton if I had to choose between the two 10 times out of 10.

Posters that said the Flames were a bottom feeders are now worried about facing the league's top team in round three of the playoffs because they beat them 2-1
Lol must be fun

Oh hey BoLevi's back, in time to chime in with a pessimistic post about the Flames.
And was nowhere to be found during that entire epic crushing of the Oilers.
Quite the "fan"
Last post that I'm aware of was "they haven't looked good in a while" whilst on a 19-4-2 run that became 21-4-2 over the weekend.

I honestly didn't think the Flames were very good. Lots of sloppy execution. Their structure and work ethic always keeps them in just about everything, but I didn't really think they had much push tonight.
Backlund line was the best tonight.
Lucic went back to being crappy.

Kuemper will steal enough games for them. If the Flames special teams have a bad night (like tonight) l don’t see Calgary standing a chance.
The Avs played a really controlled game. One of the better defensive efforts I’ve seen. The broke up almost every solid opportunity.

Honestly, it's possible.
How have they fared against the Avs in their season series?

Avs were supposedly going to coast to round three last season too...then they lost to Vegas who lost to Montreal

Yeah but when they have 10 guys in the injury bay how are they supposed to beat us? We are going to meat grind them into submission.
Also Kuemper doesn't really have any playoff experience. Only 10 games played in the past 8 seasons.

Now I'm not sure if that was because the Avs played them well, or if was all on them
|
It was one of those games where they played with structure, but not with swagger.
They seem to happen now and then.
A bounce for, say, Jarnkrok on that one play though and the result could be different here. Pretty close margin when all was said and done.
I wouldn't be too upset if this is a bad game from them against the league's top team.
Pretty high floor.

This exactly. Clutch faceoff win with 20 seconds left. Get it to Andersson who actually unloads. Lindstrom and Backlund both stay to the side and wave their stick as the puck sails harmlessly into Kuemper’s glove.
One guy at least has to take his eyes away. That’s not nearly good enough to win.

I would switch Monahan and Jarnkrok. Jarnkrok would be exactly the same on the 4th line

It's very true.
Just look at how the Jets turned the tables on the Oilers last season. As well as the countless upsets in recent years.
Seems lately that there's often one expected team in the finals, and one that nobody saw coming.
You can take solace in knowing that Darryl has a pretty good book on overcoming a team in a 7 game series.

Yeah, whether it was the Avs doing a good job of keeping us to the outside, or us just not fighting hard enough for our space, I thought that was our biggest failure all night.
Lots of shots, but Kuemper is good enough to stop clean shots from the outside. I know no one wants to hear about fantasy, but I have Kuemper, and he's legitimately only above average. He has a lot of off nights.
