I think it would go to value, not the trade itself, especially on just a two year contract. And especially since about half of the teams on the list would be teams not inclined to do business with Vegas.

How could an NTC not be added as a written endorsement to a player’s contract? Even if it wasn’t registered with the league, it should be written down, signed by the player/agent with date and time, and stapled to the contract itself. It’s bonkers that it isn’t.

Vegas would be happy with that.
Anaheim would be probably be happy with that.
You know who wouldn't be happy with that?
Dadonov.

If the players are concerned about the NTC being leaked, couldn’t the NTC itself be registered with the league but the teams on the list are encrypted and only reviewed when the player is traded?

Can't Vegas put Dadonov on waivers, then park his ass in the minors when no one claims him. That saves the cap as well right?

For whatever reason I always thought it was up to the new team, whether or not they wanted to honor a NTC. Silly me, but this is rather comical.

The NTC would stipulate that the player has to submit his list of teams that he can't be traded to by a certain date and time., if the player doesn't submit his list then the NTC becomes invalid. What appears to have happened here is that Ottawa screwed up somehow and didn't acknowledge his list and add it to the contract.

There was such a rule if the player waived his NTC to allow a trade, such that the acquiring team could essentially declare the NTC was waived for the future. Not sure if it still exists but it’s not the same situation, because Vegas wasn’t on the list.

Not the whole cap, only like a million or so can be buried per player

No, I think the NTC/NMC stays for the duration of the player's contract. A player can make a one-time exception to waive it, but the NTC/MMC will again be effective for the rest of the contract.
Lucic is an example. He waived his NMC to go to Calgary. But now his NMC is still active. The Flames can't just trade him anywhere (or even put him on the expansion unprotected list) without his permission.

Sureloss mentioned somewhere that this was changed in the latest CBA, the NTC does now move with the player.

Players can’t be sent to the AHL after the deadline unless they were already at the time.

Unless the player is a left-shooting right defenceman with a daily cap hit ending in 6, playing out of position at centre or in goal. Then he can be assigned to the AHL on a Tuesday night with a full moon. But he is required to eat with the spoon in his non-dominant hand for the duration of his assignment.
After that, the rules start to get complicated.

Sens told Vegas he didn't bother filing his no trade list? Seriously if I were Vegas I would at least inquire with his agent about this.
Multi million dollar contract negotiated with a NTC and they just forgot to do it seems a little off. I would have looked into it further.
Dog ate his no trade list

It happens. See Berglund's trade to Buffalo. Brian Burke also said that one Flames player didn't file their list before their deadline and he told the player that he no longer had trade protection and Burke would trade the player if a deal came up. Luckily for the player it didn't come up.

The only thing I care about is how this is going to screw over Vegas or if they are going to find a way to weasel out of it. And I'm still pissed about the Sharks and Kane too. I demand repercussions!
