That game had to be a double crotch kick for Canucks fans:
First star: Rasmus Andersson, taken with the draft pick they traded for Baertschi
Second star: Matthew Tkachuk, taken with the next pick after they drafted Juolevi
Ouch.

Hiring an actual NHL coach helped as well. Getting probably the greatest coach of this generation really helped.
This will forever be the biggest black mark on Treliving’s tenure — so many wasted years on coaches who just straight up couldn’t lead.
I sometimes think about where the Flames would be if they’d nabbed Boudreau when he was first available three or four years ago. The Gulutzan-Peters-Ward stretch was such a waste.
In Sutter we trust.

Couldn’t agree more. Main reason we lost Bennett. Devalued a lot of our players in the process. I have such a love hate relationship with Tre. Done some really good things especially of late but his blunders have been huge.

Indeed. The lost opportunities for this franchise in having terrible coaching for a several year period definitely hurts. But, it lead to Sutter coming back, and having the best team performance since his last time behind the bench.
Bit early for math, but the napkin math shows the win dropping the magic number to 11 where the canucks can't catch the Flames. Not really the high bar, but will be the first to happen. Division magic number is 15.5 and playoffs is 12.5. Both should be single digits after the 6 game home stand.

Man, Kevin Bieksa must have really hated the Flames in his playing days. You can twll how hard ot is for him to say anything good
Au contraire - I think he compliments the Flames quite often --- praises the meat grinding, body rolling, tenacious play all the time. Often says they're playing "Sutter hockey".

I don't want to complain too much, because overall it was a great game, but I think Lucic might need to sit one of the two games in back to backs. He looked absolutely gassed all game.
Probably the worst I've ever seen him play.
Lucic made a great play on the Flames 4th goal in the 2nd period just as Canucks were gaining a little momentum. Canuck player was about to clear the puck but Lucic ran him over so Toffoli could take it into the ozone. Exactly what Lucic needs to do in playoff games... make room for your linemates
Sutter knows exactly how many minutes Markstrom will play later this year.
Sounded like he was including playoffs in that statement.
I wonder how many playoff games Sutter knows we will be playing.

Bieksa has consistently praised the Flames defence and referred to them as the toughest team in the league. He has been quite high on the Flames all season.
Hrudey we know is a flames homer but tries to tone it down on HNIC.
Freiedman sticks to the facts and really doesn’t seem to play favourites. It’s so refreshing.
Botterill is great and also very neutral. I’d like to see more of her.
Amber, Maclean, Marek…just can’t hide their revulsion at the Flames success and bitterness at the Oilers continuing generational failure.

Bieksa has been very honest and complimentary of the Flames (to his credit) but you can tell it pains him to do so
Team gets thumped 7-1 the last time they played in Van
The night before last they played maybe their worst game in quite a long time against BUF
Go into Van on the 2nd night of a back to back with their back up goalie in net and lay down a beating on Vancouver
The way this team seems able to right the ship at the drop of a hat is what excites me the most. Just stay healthy please
