Garland was their best pickup this off season. Crazy.

I think he deserves to stay for the rest of the season and take one last shot with the only team he's ever known.

To me, team success is far & away the highest priority. Any feelings of a player deserving certain treatment because of what he's done in the past, should be a very, very distant consideration. Any move that would yield positive trade value for Monahan ought to be seriously considered. That said, only people in the organization know what kind of effect removing Mony from that room would do to the team, so only they can truly weigh the pros & cons. Ultimately, Tre will make the right decision.

Also nice to hear Frank speak about Monahan as a guy who is valued out there. Many here think it would cost to get rid of him but with his age and career to date I am not surprised he would have some positive value out there. Just hasn’t been a fit with Sutter.

I think it’s a bit more than just doesn’t fit with Sutter, but regardless it’s good to hear his value isn’t negative.

I don't disagree, I fully admit I'm viewing this situation through the eyes of a sentimental fan and not as a general manager of an NHL team.

If it is a cap trade then right thing is the off-season though unless he is being an ass in the locker room or something. Wouldn't want to mess with anything chemistry wise

Yeah, I think Sutter likes Monahan fine, but Monahan has confidence/injury/general decline issues. He’s no black hole, but to me he’s more of a cap issue than a non-Sutter player issue.

Mony hasn't been in the press box or mentioned like other players (that I am aware of); so I think that is telling that Sutter likes what he is bringing.

Interesting that Seravalli keeps bringing up Monahan, again today on DFO Rundown. I wouldn't mind it. Just from reading the rumors and through the grapevine, it does seem like they have been quietly trying to trade him for 2 years. Maybe he wants the fresh start himself.

Who would want off this train right now? That's insanity!
I mean, I could understand wanting a fresh start in the offseason but no one wants off this ride right now IMO.

No one probably wants off but Tree probably still wants to upgrade.
Dube for Rakkell for example might be a great trade to look at.
Have to juggle room morale and upgrades though.

Because they’re tanking.
Gotta get real bad for a shot at bedard.
Also, maximizing returns.

Trading a player of Debrincat's calibre and age to tank seems insane to me....A top pick might get you a Debrincat....if you can manage to outsuck all the other awful teams, which is a genuine challenge.
