Tippett for a rental is a very steep price. Giroux would be the #2 centre I assume, and play with Huberdeau. This would move Bennett into the bottom six.

Better Florida than Colorado.

The East is such a tough conference. Practically every team in the playoffs is a legit contender.

I wonder how the Panthers make the room. Do we see a third team get involved to take on some of the cap for picks?

I believe Giroux has mainly been playing RW the last few years as he has aged. So he'd maybe play with Bennett AND Huberdeau

What? No chance. Verhaege and Reinhart are playing much better than bennett. If anyone's out of the top 6 it's going to be him.

Honestly, with Giroux in and Lundell back from injury, IMO Bennett will be on the 4th line. Marchment and Duclair have been absolutely rolling, and lindell has a ton of organizational focus (and was killing it in that spot.)

Giroux will be a winger for Barkov, they're not going to break up the second and third lines that have great chemistry.

Thornton has been playing LW with Barkov so I expect they'd move him down, and then move Verhaege to LW and Giroux to RW.

Really this will mess them up though. I'd keep Tippett over getting Giroux

I am not saying they are winning anything but the deadline. Flames won the deadline in 09 and lost in the first round.

If Florida lands the top forward and a top 3 Dman at the deadline they will have made the most “impressive” moves but doesn’t mean they will win anything.

Really hoping Giroux just goes somewhere. Would help the Flyers get asset, and give him a chance at a cup. There was some speculation that he might not move at the deadline.

Thornton has played just a handful of games, he isn't a regular in the lineup. Verhaege is Barkov's LW and the RW has been whoever all year, recently Marchment. But they don't seem to have that great of a chemistry so I'd assume Giroux would be the RW there.

Huberdeau-Bennett-Duclair and Reinhart-Lundell-Marchement have been excellent together so I can't imagine them breaking up those lines unless injuries. So doesn't leave a lot of options.

Capfriendly. Shows the Panthers have $77.9M committed to 15 players next year. Leaves $3.5M to cover 8 players. Huberdeau will be in the last year of his deal. You may be missing they have close to $7M in dead cap space thanks to Yandle and Darling.

I assume there is a decent chance he goes back in the off season too?

well I guess it depends on how you look at it...if they lose in the first round they burned a 2023 unprotected pick for nothing plus whatever else

for me we don't find out who "won" for a few months

top 3 dman is a stretch IMO

Oh yeah I should've mentioned but Hornqvist is pretty much good as gone, he's getting traded or bought out. Buyout gives them another 3.5million cap space. They are also carrying an extra body or two right now and are not going to re-sign all of their RFAs/UFAs. Noel Acciari is almost certainly gone, which is another 1.7 million in cap space.

It's going to be tight but none of the key guys are getting moved next year. 2023-24 is another story.

I'm hoping for that as well since Sutter has some unfinished business. This time, the puck goes in without any doubt!

I am talking about deadline day winners the team that everyone will say made the biggest moves. When the dust settles Monday they will talk about who won based on nothing other than opinion.

Charoit is likely one of the top 3 Dmen that are on the market not a top 3 Dman on a team. If Chychrun goes that could change things but Charoit was one of the prizes of the deadline. Giroux is the prize so if Florida gets him that is great.

Like I said when the Flames traded for Jokinen and Leopold they were deemed the winners by the pundits at the time. They added the pieces they needed and the team was a division leader at the time. They end up losing in 6 games as a 5 seed so clearly it wasn’t the best set of moves but I remember how hyped the fans and media were when they made those deals.

I am not talking about hindsight reviewing this a year later I am talking hot takes the moment the deadline bell rings.
