Good, rather not see Colorado get any better.

Panteros really going all-in this year.
I hope they faceplant in the first round like Tampa in 18-19.

I’ve never been keen on Giroux, though I can’t figure out why. I’m not sure where he slots on that team either.

I don't, I think a Flames/Panthers SCF would be fun to watch.

They need a RW for Barkov so I'd assume with him. Or not sure they "need" but if you're going to go all in, this is the way to do it. Go big or go home.

Yes, but they scare me. I'd rather face a Cinderella team like the Habs last season and crush them.
When it comes to the SCF and my team is in it, I don't care if they win all the games 1-0 and it's universally declared the most boring SCF in history. Just care about W's.

I love Owen Tippett, but for Giroux...?

I may have to sequester myself in the woods away from all media if that happens. It'd be hard for me to watch or know anything at all about what happens.

But why? You want another Tampa run?
Carolina is probably the only other east team with high cup odds. Panthers - Hurricanes conf. final would be amazing.

Well I guess we'll be seeing Giroux in the playoffs.

Yeah, a Florida 1st round knockout means either Toronto or Boston advancing.
MUCH rather see Florida.
Same goes for 2nd round against Tampa.

I take my comment back. All the teams in the East scare me except the Leafs but I don't want them anywhere near the SCF.

They have to go all in this year. This is it. They will have to disassemble the team this off season. They have a commitment of $78M to only 15 players for next season. They have under $4M to pay 7-8 players. I don't know how they are going to manage to eat up Giroux's $8.25M cap hit with only $402K cap space available at the moment?
I'm with you. I want to see Florida blowup in the opening round, almost as much as I want to see Colorado implode.

They have about 3.5 million in cap space so they need to send a contract back plus Philly needs to eat 50% of Giroux contract. It's going to be expensive but much like Iginla, if Giroux decides that only the Panthers are the option then the return won't be great.
Florida doesn't have to disassemble their team almost at all next year, all their main guys are tied up. I don't know where you got that information. Only when Huberdeau needs a new deal they'll need to let go of Weegar probably.

Florida kind of feels like the team that goes bonkers and loads up at the deadline only for it throw off team chemistry or have the whole thing derailed by a few catastrophic injuries. Nothing against that team, I like em, they're fun to watch. It just has that feel to it.
Tampa has a "we're good but we've run out of steam after 2 cups" feel to them.
Carolina, to me is the team to beat out east. They're tops in a lot of the important stats and have that hardworking, pace mentality that we are so accustomed to here. PLus theyre getting great goaltending as well.
Toronto has the feel of that team that you write off in a tough eastern conference, but if they find some goaltending they could finally shake off the 1st round cure and go on a run.
Not sure why I'm saying this in a rumor thread, but there you have it.
FLA\CGY would be a hell of a lot of fun, and of all the teams out there I think the Flames match up poorly against Carolina.

Leafs are their own worst enemy. With the way they're currently playing and their goaltending woes, I don't see them getting out of the first round, once again.
