Brady getting flamed this morning on ESPNU Danny and Dusty show for the timing of his announcement. Arguably one of college sports bigger days of the year and he could not wait another day to announce, or announce a day earlier.

Now would be a good time to tank as the AFC North opponents, Cinci and Baltimore (maybe Cleveland), are strong and realistically the entire AFC is pretty strong so trying to compete without a good starting QB is pretty useless.

They are similar but I would take Mariota because he's had more time holding a clipboard and he did win a playoff game.

Exhibit A as to why bad teams stay bad. This is one of the worst contracts I can ever remember, but someone like Allen Robinson must be psyched seeing this.

It's an absurd contract but they have to overpay to get the players they want. That said what other teams were even in that ballpark? He's now what the 3rd highest paid WR in the league and has never topped 1000 yards.

Cap is up $25M - guys are gonna get paid.

And Kirk is solid - Trevor Lawrence needs more solid in his life.

Seahawks re-signing Quandre Diggs ($40 mill over 3), Will Dissly ($24 mill over 3), Al Woods ($9 mill over 2)...Bringing back stars of the team that was so great last year. Just brutal waste of money.

Packers re-sign Preston Smith ($52.5 mil over 5) which lowers his cap hit (was at $12.5 mil) and they release Za'Darius Smith as well as Billy Turner

He's been a solid #2 guy, at best, and yeah the cap is going up. But contracts like this ruin it for every team. A guy whose ceiling is maybe high end #2 is being paid like a top 5 WR. Davante is worth 4 years, $168 million if Kirk is worth 4 years and $84 million. It's like when Flacco permanently ruined QB contracts, all it takes is one to ruin things for everyone.

Don't get sucked in by Mariota or Bridgewater. they're crap. You'll still draft a guy, cut Haskins, and hope that Trubisky ends up just being a bridge guy.

That's the media promoting their hype. The biggest day of the college calendar is a bracket reveal? Something is manipulated, that they don't even draw with ping pong balls.

The biggest day is Thursday when there are actually 16 games in a day.

The Kirk signing is a little expensive...but he was 27th in total receiving yards last season.

And 9.5 yards per target actually has him in the top 15 among wide receivers.

He's only 25 years old too. Considering you are getting him as a free agent and don't have to give up any draft capital to acquire him, that doesn't seem like a bad move by the Jaguars.

Need to get some reliable receivers around Lawrence.

The Jags have spent an ungodly amount of money to have a pass catching group whose ceiling is maybe 15th best in the league. Kirk is probably the best of this group, but yeah this an elite unit in terms of cost, but not exactly in terms of how good it is.

What's hilarious is that Raiders fans didn't want Zay Jones back as a starter as he was a massive downgrade from Ruggs and cannot track the deep ball to save his life. Jags sign him to a 3 @ $24 million contract which is maybe more shocking than the Kirk contract. He's had two seasons around 500 yards receiving and 11 total TD's in five seasons. What tape are they looking at when evaluating this guy? Also what teams were tripping over themselves to drive up his price as he sat around for a few weeks last season in free agency before Gruden picked him up for $2.5 million which at the time was an overpayment.

Yeah, that isn't correct. The contract is 3 X $8 million for a total of $24million.
