this makes the most sense. Been a while since I saw the episode but didn't she die in a pit of tar or something?
Looks like the tar stuck around.
It was a malevolent tar-like entity names Armus, who struck her and she died. Riker was swallowed by Armus, but didn't die.
But then she came back in a changed history episode and went back in time to the Enterprise C, to help preserve peace with the Klingons, was assumed dead, but was captured by Romulans and gave birth to her daughter Sela, who looked just like her with pointy ears.
Tasha was then killed escaping when Sela gave her away, and Sela grew up to try to take over the Klingon Enemy by funneling weapons and ships to the Duras family, but was stopped by the Federation sensor net.
Then, she captured Spock and Data and Picard when Spock was on Romulus trying to unify Vulcans and Romulans.

She was upset about not getting enough screen time on a show that was barely making it work as it was, essentially begged to be killed off to venture onwards to greener pastures.
Turns out those greener pastures did not exist.
Then they found insane ways to bring her back occasionally, presumably so she could pay her rent.
She did have one genuinely good gripe though, Tasha Yar was pretty boring. But she didnt have the patience to wait until the show really found its feet.
Then again, there really wasnt a lot of room to breathe with Yar in terms of story telling until they could really turn her into a one-woman soap-opera.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.
They had the one episode where she got infected and seduced Data. And it was like the worst attempt at sexiness since Elizabeth Berkley pretended to be a stripper.
Denise Crosby was just a bad awkward actress.

It would be fun if it was Lore. Or Q is showing Picard “what might have been”.
LOL lore. It probably is ####ing lore.
I didn't even think of that.
But I think Lore would have been much more outright aggressive and smug.
I really hope it's not his mom but I am greatly fearing that it is indeed his mom. That would be very icky. I am not sure why the writers of this trek era insist on trying to make the galaxy feel like a small town, but they do it a lot. I hope guinan has a bigger role, otherwise i think her cameo is also pointless.
Alternate universe borg would be too into peace. It doesn't seem logical.
I am stumped here. It wasn't a borg queen. The subtitles had queen in paranthese, and the "queen" we saw would have been a gargantuan woman. The attire was clearly to conceal the identity as well, which would be pointless for an actual borg queen.
Q ####ing with Picard by dressing as a borg queen is still my best take on it. And if it was Q pertending to be a borg, then it still fits with his mantra of not provoking the borg. We also only saw one very non-borg looking borg. And it shot people, how often do borgs shoot people?
Not to be overshadowed by the Obi Wan trailers, this just got released:
I am actually looking forward to this. I'm a huge fan of Anson Mount...Yuge!!
But also, Captain Pike doesnt have to constantly save the Galaxy from imminent destruction because Space Jesus Bo Burnham is all over that like a fat kid on cake.
Captain Pike can...ya know...just, like, maybe, go out and explore and stuff. Ya know, like do 'Star Trek' and 'Star Trekky-like' things and such.

It's supposed to be closer in spirit to TOS than to STD, so I'm cautiously optimistic.
