This convoy is a monumental screw up. If you’re going to leave all your vehicles parked in a nice line for days on end wouldn’t you at least have 24/7 combat air patrol in addition to your AA?
To be honest we don’t actually know anything, but given Russia’s supposed ability to control the skies it seems shocking if there were multiple Ukrainian air strikes on the convoy.

They don't control the skies, they lost a bunch of jets and helicopters to stingers and the air defense systems are still active. Even their anti aircraft vehicles are being hit by drones.
I do wonder how much pressure China put on Russia to delay until after the Olympics, and how much Putin is regretting such a delay now.
It also hurts the Ukrainian ground forces, arguably even more so. Since Russian air power means that moving on decent roads will be fatal and they are badly out of position to counter the Russian forces coming from the south.

China asked Russia to delay the invasion of Ukraine until after the Winter Olympics in Beijing finished, say US officials.
Senior Chinese officials made the request to their Russian counterparts in early February, according to senior Biden administration officials and a European official.
Good article on the seizing of planes and challenges around the leased planes in Russia.

Aircraft leasing companies have written to Russian airlines that are currently leasing billions of dollars worth of Irish-owned aircraft, seeking to terminate leases and start the recovery of the aircraft.
The Russian airlines have been directed to ground the aircraft as, if they continue flying, they will be in breach of Western sanctions imposed over Russia’s attacks on Ukraine.

It is understood that Irish companies have already repossessed aircraft leased to Russian airlines at two international airports outside Russia in response to the sanctions.
Russian media outlet RBC reported that an Irish leasing company seized a Boeing 727, leased by Aeroflot’s low-cost carrier Pobeda, at Istanbul’s Havalimani airport.
Residential complex in Borodyanka, somebody please stop this monster:
There are no words. Just completely unbelievable to see this. Such a helpless feeling to sit here and watch this murder take place. Its not a military war, its murder, nothing else.

I mean we all get it, no one here likes Putin or what Russia is doing, but you're just being super unrealistic, and I'm not sure what it accomplishes other than maybe some cathartic purpose for you personally where it feels good to keep posting "#### them all" over and over again.
Little early for the "Mission Accomplished" banner, I'd say.
He attacked. West has retaliated. He can still counter and he has some huge fataing tricks up his sleeve, still.
It's certainly not a fait accompli.
But I think this is how it will end, but I think it will take weeks. Not months.
The hope is Ukraine can weather the onslaught until then. With billions being funneled into Ukraine, arms, aid, and a fighting spirit, they have a chance.
Interesting thread about the Russian paratroopers they dropped into Hostomel, which have been wiped out by the Ukrainian special forces, and the overall war strategy by Russia.

These are harsh sanctions. It'll be a matter of days before everyday Russians feel it, and a matter of weeks before the economy essentially halts.
They will be compelled to end the invasion. Putin will either be killed domestically, or extradited for trial in international court.
This is my train of thought too. Once their import supply of everyday goods is depleted and everyday folk start going without, protests will turn to riots.
