Oh yeah, sorry I didn't mean to sound as if I was justifying them. It is really sad, but that's the way our minds work. If people are lost or dissatisfied with our lot in life, movements like this give them something to lose themselves in and in many cases become a part of.
The issue in their minds at this point shifts from "I haven't accomplished what I wanted to in life" to "it's immigrants, the LGBT community, wokeness etc that are holding me back, me and this group can change that!!!!".
This is bang on for the people I know who have joined the freedom clan. If infomercials were a thing, I can envision one to the effect of, “ Do you dislike your life? Then stop taking responsibility for it and join us in blaming other things and people!“
However, it’s not so much people choosing this path consciously as much as it’s human nature and we’re all susceptible to it to varying degrees at any given point in our lives.
Emotionally charged campaigns such as this draw in emotional people. Vaccination is a very polarizing subject and the instability and negative outcomes caused by Covid has caused a very high level of engagement in the topic. Thus, even though this movement is strongly outvoted in a fair democracy, there are enough of them to keep causing a fuss. Hey pals, this is a democracy and you’re outvoted.
To a large extent this convoy movement has become an information war between rational and irrational people. The battlegrounds are people who reside near the unclear borderlands between the two sides.
I truly feel like Canada has been infected by the Trumpism virus. We were just left so susceptible while battling Covid and it’s really taken hold now.

I hope everyone is watching the precipitous drop off in trucker convoy bull#### now that Russia is no longer being allowed free reign to manipulate social media platforms.
You were being had. 80% of the country was always against this nonsense, but you sure did Vladimir Putin a solid.
Bravo.
Morons. Tweeted yourselves into such a fervour that you partook in a Russian psyop against your own country.
Your grandparents would be ashamed of you.
The good news? You can Come back to the light, and all will be forgiven.
Don’t dig in on this. You were wrong.

I would like to think it’s more a case of waking up a bit due to the current world situation (reading the room). Probably not a good time to claim your freedom is lost ‘cause masks and medicine.
GreenLantern - do you mean a drop-off in social media disinformation and trolling?
I'm just thinking if it's the Russian troll factories exclusively focusing on other topics, or if the litany of social media chatter has died down because as far more important (and true) situation has usurped Convoy talk in general. It's probably both.

And the Russians no longer being able to use twitter.
This is a pattern of behaviour going back 8 years now.
Every single time you’ve seen something that makes you go “huh, how did THAT happen?” since 2014, be it the US election, Brexit, the convoys - it’s all the Russians.
That sounds far less tinfoil hat crazy a week into the invasion of Ukraine.
It’s not like the attempted extortion of that country got the 44th president of the United States impeached or anything…

That is brutal. Why the hell would they grab onto Russia to support now? Can you provide an example? I do believe you, just curious.
My only evidence is an anecdotal observation of my token "question everything" acquaintance on Instagram. That person swayed from the war isn't even real into, Ukraine had it coming.
A blogger I have followed for years is pointing out that Ukraine had this coming. This bloggers' mental demise over the years has been fascinating to watch. I wouldn't describe it as fun to watch.
They are going on about biolabs in Ukraine. Trying to correlate the civilian sites that are being bombed as potential locations that contain these biolabs. Putin and Trump are just doing God's work.
Should anyone be surprised by this, psyops to create mayhem in your enemy countries is relatively easy and blood free compared to real war. They wanted to create a situation prewar in the west to show their home viewers that the west is mired in their own authoritarian crisis.

We had a convoy pass through on Sunday, so thanks for that I guess! The convoy has gotten decently big. 8 miles long as it went through Oklahoma. One of the other ones a bit further north fizzled and died as it was trying to get to Kansas City.

Ottawa police are looking into controversial Twitter activity from Independent MPP Randy Hillier, who urged supporters of the so-called “Freedom Convoy” to “keep calling” emergency phone lines in the nation’s capital as the protest was being dispersed.
The revelation follows a move by Ontario’s legislature to again censure the former Progressive Conservative for “conduct that is inappropriate and unbecoming of a member.”
“We are aware of the claims and Ottawa police is reviewing the social media posts,” Const. Paramjit Singh said Wednesday in a statement to the Star.
Also, The Leaky Tank, a truck stop type diner in Sarnia posted some pretty wild stuff about Russia, switching from anti-vaxx and conspiracy nonsense to...different conspiracy nonsense.
The phone was ringing off the hook at a small diner here Saturday, but the majority of the calls were heated conversations about a pro-Russia message posted on its daily specials board and not about what was warming on the grill.
The Leaky Tank, a small breakfast-and-lunch-only truck stop in the First Nation south of Sarnia that has been charged for flouting public-health rules, regularly features controversial handwritten messages on a whiteboard below a trio of menu items.
But Friday’s statement, which claimed Russia is “de-Nazifying” Ukraine and not occupying the country, created a social-media firestorm after photos of it surfaced online.
Not surprisingly, our own special little idiot Chris Scott of Whistle Stop fame decided his best course of action was defending the restaurant, then doing his own live video which was very Russia-apologetic.
EDIT: My mistake. Chris was defending the Crown and Anchor in Whitecourt, which is another, similar brand of stupidity.

Check in on Theo Fleury's twitter account. At the beginning of the war, he was posting pro-putin, anti-WEF stuff. Also, yikes Dustin Penner
I just took a gander at it today, he's still RT'ing pro Russia stuff, from accounts about them just "restoring order" in Ukraine and aren't targeting civilians. Embarrassing
