Yeah, that's not what I'm talking about. Some people back then saw Konecny trending up to the point where he had a 0.9 point per game season at 22 years of age and was signed to 4 more years at around $5 million.
Meanwhile at the same time Johnny had back slid offensively for a couple seasons, was 4 years older, more expensive and only signed for 1-2 more seasons.
Thankfully Johnny has bounced back under Sutter.
For the record, I wasn't one that ever thought Konecny was worth more than Johnny BTW. I always thought the Flyers should have to add in a Gaudreau/Konecny swap.

Why tho.
Hoglander is pretty decent, he's still young, and he's getting paid peanuts. I don't understand why they would move him.

I think the flames add some minor depth at the deadline but I could definitely see a hockey deal with Dube involved. Change of scenery type deal like Debrusk. Maybe Dube+ for Hagel who the Flames were rumored to be in on per Serivali?

Vancouver soured on him already?
I'd be fine moving a pick for him. Mine as well give the scouting department the 2022 draft off as extra vacation.

Exactly, it was based on player value, nut "who's the best". Johnny's pending UFA would have factored into that decision. But recall it was made at a time when Johnny was playing poorly.

Two things have changed - JG’s play has improved markedly, and IMO the view of him staying has improved.

Another argument was that it was hard to imagine success paying Johnny more than his 6.75. Getting younger and cheaper with TK would extend the window and set up further changes.

24 g 61 pts in 66 games (out of the 69 his team played that year). Leading that in both goals and points. His 3rd straight 24g season, with his pts trending up from 28 to 47 to 49.
His goal scoring his down, but he's still been on a 50+ pt pace these last two seasons while his team has stunk. For $600k more than 36pt career high Blake Coleman (if we want to play the no context pt total game).

Let's also remember that Johnny's point total last year really flatters him. He had 27pts in the first 40 games, then closed with 22pts in 16 games once we were effectively eliminated (at our 40 game mark we were 8 pts behind MTL who had 3 games in hand).

Hoglander and Horvat for Monahan and Dube. Has to happen now. Can sign and add Hanowski.

Sign me up for either of these guys. I've long thought that Debrusk could benefit from a change of scenery. Hagel would be a dream, as he's a good scorer and gritty, plus, he's only 23. Not sure, though, why a rebuilding team
would want to trade somebody like that?

The team that lands Klingberg will be getting a real playoff monster-30 points in his last 39 playoff games.

Rumor is the Hawks want a strong rebuilding package that includes a 1st since he is on a 1.5M per deal for 2 more years after.
Hockey trade idea I came up with that could help the Hawks rebuilding efforts and help the flames
Dube+Valimaki+2nd
For
Hagel+De Haan
Flames get a solid young forward to fill out their roster for the next couple of years and the left shot depth Dman they are after. Hawks get a pick but also get 2 young cost controlled pieces they can plug right into their lineup.
Interested to hear what a Hawks fan take would be?

Right, I forgot that the 'Hawks were toying with a more "scorched earth" approach. That's not a bad proposal, but I think we are giving up a bit too much-what if they included Entwistle? I guess they would be giving up too much...

I was watching and Montreal had a 2 on 1 at the hashmarks when they blew it down because he was lights out. Scary moment for sure.

Apparently Friedman dumped a whole lot of gasoline on the Muzzin LTIR speculation saying that he thinks Toronto might go after JT Miller if Muzzin is put on LTIR.
Guess what all Toronto and Vancouver media will be talking about for awhile.

Or D! Especially with Muzzin out. Suggesting another all star forward is nonsensical
