I did say that Calgary is in a group with Minnesota, St.Louis, and maybe a healthy version of Vegas. So if they want to finish as a top 4 team that you would reasonable expect to win a playoff series, they need to keep this pace up. Which does seem bonkers compared to most other years.
Might be a good thing though, you prefer not to be battling for your playoff lives and exhaust all your energy to make the playoffs. But teams that have been able to coast into the playoffs without much to play for in the last two weeks have had struggles in the first round.

So you're saying if the Flames make the playoffs comfortably they'll lose in the first round, and if they don't, they'll lose in the first round?
Sounds like fun.

You said it's a disadvantage to make the playoffs too easily so you have nothing meaningful to play for at the end of the regular season. You also said it's a disadvantage to have to fight and claw to make the playoffs.
So playing meaningful hockey makes you more likely to lose, and not playing meaningful hockey also makes you more likely to lose.
You said all this by way of justifying your initial position, which was that the Flames need to finish with at least 110 points before you will believe they are likely to win a round.

Such irresponsible cap management by Tre, for the same term and $1.6 mil less a year we could have a real leader like Kassian on this team. Such a shame.

There definitely seems to be a top 4 in the league. Tampa, Florida, Carolina and Colorado.
But having said that the Flames have beaten all of them quite handily. With the style the flames play and our great team defence I honestly think thet are going to do some damage in the playoffs if they stay healthy

No it was a grievance directed at the restrictions. He’s been pretty vocal about wanting a full stadium if everyone has already been vaccinated. Was not a shot at the fans at all, however other players have certainly commented on how quiet the Dome is compared with other rinks

Really, players say the Dome is quiet? Can you post the source on that? I’ve always felt that was a myth

The most recent one was Zadorov’s translated interview. One of the Toronto players also joked a few weeks ago that if there were no Leafs fans that there world have been no noise at the game

Here is the section from his interview, I liked that he mentions that Canadians go to watch the game, not to party.
Quote:
Z Interview Part 3
Starting @53:00 - 1:01:00
The Dome Being Quiet
Interviewer: We were at your game last night, and it was very unusual and strange how quiet it was. We even caught ourselves trying not to speak too loudly because then everyone would hear it. It was dead silent. Yes, I understand COVID, and half capacity.
Zadorov: When we had 18,000 it was similar.
I: Why is that? Why are the fans so bad at cheering here?
Z: From my understanding, Calgary is a business city of rich people. There are many companies - Oil companies, hedgefunds and so on. They essentially bought out most of the season tickets. They give those tickets to their employees, some get to go to one game, others to another. That way we get a lot more white collar fans than hardcore fans. Also, like I was saying, Canadians understand the game of hockey, a lot more than Americans.
I: They also love it a lot more.
Z: They love it, but they also understand it. They understand the game. Why yell for no reason if you went to watch the game.
I: That's true, they yell only when something is happening.
Z: They understand the ebbs and flows of the game. Americans come to enjoy the show. They come to drink, have fun, dance, appear on the jumbo-tron. It's all a part of the show. Here, in Canada, the people come to watch the game of hockey.
I: Where do hockey players prefer to play?
Z: Obviously, when everyone is yelling and screaming it creates a better atmosphere, at least for me. The playoffs here have an amazing atmosphere though. When we were playing in Calgary with Colorado, it was absolutely crazy.
I: What's the difference? The white collar crowd doesn't show up to the playoffs?
Z: Playoffs are just different, nothing even comes close to the playoffs. That's why you want to play in the playoffs each year, because it's such a high, and so much fun.

He's not wrong, I've had the pleasure of sitting in Row 1 a few times (for free I ain't rich) and when we scored I felt like I was the only one in my section standing up yelling and cheering. Definitely a very white collar crowd, which isn't really a bad thing but its more about socializing and networking it seems.

That Russian just pinpointed the difference between Canadians and Americans better than most of us could have.
He's got some brains with that brawn it would appear.
