Where would you slot Crouse? He isn't a 4th line player.

I don't want to see any adds. Flames have depth their current lineup plus guys in the AHL for additional depth.

I could see this
Gaudreau-Lindholm-Tkachuk
Mangiapane-Backlund-Coleman
Crouse-Monahan-Toffoli
Lucic-Dube-Lewis

The way I see, if they acquire someone, it will basically be to cover for an injury.
In a long playoff run, an injury is practically inevitable. The Flames are extraordinarily fortunate in that they have been almost perfectly healthy all year. But that's unlikely to continue in a deep playoff run.
If someone in the top 9 is injured, a good forward will likely be replaced with someone like Ritchie. It might be a good idea to get another forward to prevent this from happening.
For that reason, I'm kind of hoping the Flames acquire a solid third line player. For the meantime, I'm fine with playing a third line player on the fourth line. It's a good problem to have.

Thing is, Dube was good in the playoffs last time we were there. 4 goals, 5 points in 10 games.

Just read a rumour that the Jets might trade upcoming UFA D Nathan Beaulieu if they don’t look like they will make the playoffs. 6’2”, skates very well, moves the puck, and can play an all-around game. Former first-rounder. Shoots L, but can play both sides. He had 28 pts in 74 games his last season with the Habs, but since then, his offence has fallen off the proverbial cliff. Will stick up for teammates too. Cap hit is 1.25 M, so he could be ideal for teams looking for depth.

Which is fine in the regular season but you dont want to be throwing guys into the NHL line up in the playoffs unless they have been there before and had time/practice with the big club.
Thats why so many "adds" at the TDL are cheaper journeymen who may be nothing more than 8-10 minute guys on the teams they are on in the regular season.
Guys like Pelletier, Gawdin (who i dont see NHL in him at all), Mackey would be last choice for Sutter as there just is no time to learn on the fly in the post season.
An argument can be made for getting them time during the season for sure but that would almost require injuries to happen and no one wants that.

As much as I’d like to see another good player added I really think they should hold on to their assets in case they need to retool next year

He would cost a fortune.
He is a great player, big, skilled, hits like a truck and isn't slow to boot.
He is pretty much the perfect third liner.
I would assume Arizona would want a first and then an additional pick.

I think he would be an unreal depth player with finish and grit. Moves around the ice well and is hard to play against..

For a guy with a career-high 25 points? They won't get that.

There is always a premium paid for gritty players.
Crouse is a 24 year old rough and tough forward who is 6'4" and has finished in the top ten for hits 3 times I believe so far in his career.
On top of this he can contribute to around 20 goals and is very solid defensively.
I assume he would cost quite a bit.. he is a coaches dream really for a middle six forward.

How can he be a 20 goal guy when he's scored 25 points total as a career high?
I like the guy too but I don't think the Flames should be acquiring RFAs with their upcoming cap struggles.

Agreed. The team is good enough as-is and there's already enough question marks next season that I would prefer not to give up any more future assets as depending on what happens with Tkachuk and Gaudreau this team could take a major step back in talent.

He has 12 goals in 47 games this year and has previously had 15 in 66.
Nonetheless this year he will likely have 20 goals and hover in the mid 40s for points.
I understand previous seasons come into play when looking at a player but at 24 you have to consider where he is going in lieu of what he has done. The guy is trending upwards.

I agree, you won't get him even for just a first round pick. It will take more.

For comparison, Barclay Goodrow had a career high 8 goals and 24 points in 62 games before being traded with a 3rd to TB for a 1st and an AHLer.
