I certainly don't see the Flames looking to make any big changes the way the team is looking, and they are at a point now where they can't really add without taking away.
Kapanen makes a pretty palatable $3.2 M, then is RFA. They seem to be perpetually looking for D, perhaps they would like a big, hard-hitting, mobile Russian?

I wouldn't be surprised if they like Justin Braun. Big, RH shot, 100 games of playoff experience.

Kevin Connauton and Nick Seeler don't seem good enough to be relevant.

Can't see them getting/wanting Yandle. While it would be nice to get an offensive defenseman, I don't think Yandle offers much at this point.

The way Zadorov is playing, I'm sure many teams would have interest. But I don't know why the Flames would want to break up their D right now. People speculate that the Flames will look to add a veteran D to rely on in case of injury, I can't see them subtracting from the group they have. It's not like they struggle to score, and they just replaced Ritchie with Toffoli.

Kevin Connaughton seems like he might be a LH version of Stone? Journeyman who has been all over the map and has been a #7 guy for the last few years, but he's played 25 games this year for FLA/PHI so he should be in reasonable game shape.

Could maybe be had for something like Welinski since PHI really needs some RHD (especially if they manage to trade Braun/Risto).

Seravalli says the Coyotes are shopping Christian Fischer. At first glance, he's no big whoop, but I find him intriguing. He's only 24, a 6'2"214lb RW, and he plays a power forward game. I think there's a player there, but like many players, he's been rotting in the desert. In his draft year, he had 30pts in 25 USHL games-the following year, he put up 90pts in 66 games for the Windsor Spits, and was considered a pretty high-end prospect. The year after that, he played in the AHL and had 47pts in 57 games. His rookie year in the NHL, he had 33pts in 79 games and looked like he was well on his way, but since then his game has fallen off a cliff....

At this point I’ll keep Dube. I was his biggest critic but I have a feeling that Tofolli is going to inject some much needed veteran leadership and skill to that line. Dube is already on a two game goal streak and cheaper. If Kapenen can’t play with Crosby/Malkin, I’d rather not break up what’s going on here. And absolutely no to Zadorov going anywhere.

The last thing we need is another trading away Kobasew/Ference to disrupt the team room/vibe.

With Toffoli now firmly in the fold I am definitely on board with pursuing Troy Stecher at defence and Jared McCann or Calle Jarnkrok at forward, with McCann being the biggest target (and most costly).

Sadly (for him) Rusicka and Lucic would be the best linemates he's seen in a year and a half.

In watching Sutter’s presser today I couldn’t help but key in on his view of the Flames in faceoffs. On the PP especially the first unit he applauded Sean for winning some key draws that ultimately lead to some goals on the PP and that it’s easier because Lindy and Monahan can kinda decide based on strong side so it works. 5 on 5 is tougher though and Lindy gets leaned on a lot being the only righty… it brings me right back to Calle Jarnkrok who like his cousin has experience in the face off circle though Seattle isn’t using him as much there he has taken upwards of 8 to 9 hundred faceoffs in years past. Being a righty I think it would help balance the bottom 9 for faceoff options and he’d be a natural fit in the locker room and on the ice.

Braun would be my guess but I think he will cost a 2nd. I would rather get insurance type depth and not someone who is going to bump anyone from the lineup.

Not sure if he left the game early, but Jack Roslovic only played 5:48 tonight. He only played 9+ minutes in the game against us. I don't think he'll be with the Jackets for too long. Still like him though-get him here, and Sutter will do wonders with him. Plays C.

I don't think the Flames are going to do any reclamation projects before the trade deadline.

Right now they are looking for guys that are going to hit their stride easily with the Flames. They don't have the cap space and time to try guys who might bounce back and need to find confidence again.

Roslovic might be a better option to look at in the offseason, but IMO he doesn't make sense now.

I agree, but I wouldn't exactly call him a reclamation project-despite his low ice time, he still has 20 pts in 47 games. I think he would fit quite seamlessly, as he can play a good 200-ft game, he has skill, and he can skate. The fact is, there's no room.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the guy be Lawson Crouse. I think he'd be a great add.

I like the thought of Crouse but he is another LS LW so he wouldn’t be my first choice. He would definitely add to the punishment the Flames dish out though which is an intriguing thought.

The only area I can see them really wanting to upgrade right now is possibly Ruzicka but if he keeps playing this way until the deadline then I am not sure I see it.

Flames have been a very healthy team this year so I think they chase depth but if something happens to a top 9 forward before the deadline or a top 4 Dman I could see them making another fairly sizable add
