Even in a scorched earth rebuild you keep him. He’s only 24 and his contract is up for renewal right when you shed Kane and Toews’ big contracts. He’d be the leader in the “new” team.
Maybe he’s been trouble for the coach and/or management and we’ve just never heard?

Personally I would love for a deal to happen around Boeser and Zacha. Boeser has a 7.5M QO and I think if they add him it makes it very tough for them to throw a pile of cash at Johnny if it gets to that.

Radulov is 35 already! He’s sure fallen off a cliff. He really only produced in his show me year in Montreal and the first two Dallas years, when he was motivated. Don’t like Monahan’s production at his salary? Check out Radulov’s.

Isn't that the biggest difference with Sutter though? He is giving people a shot and coaching them when they mess up.
Back when Wotherspoon was one of the Flames top D prospects he was one mistake from being stapled to the bench every game he dressed.
You can't develop in an environment like that. It gets in your head.

Adam Brooks on waivers. Look at this poor kid. Placed on waivers by Toronto in October. Claimed by Montreal. Put on waivers by Montreal in November. Claimed by Vegas. Loaned to Henderson for “conditioning” in January. Put on waivers by Vegas Feb 15, claimed by Toronto Feb 16, Toronto put him on waivers today.

In reality waivers is kind of stupid.
It made sense once upon a time because you didn't want teams stashing good young players in the minors...but that's not happening anymore in a cap era and part of me thinks it hurts the NHLPA more than it helps.
How is that good for Adam Brooks play or development?
I think sometimes players end up stashed in the minors too - because a player clears waivers and then they don't want to risk bringing him back up again and having to waive him again to send them back down.
I feel like Waivers should happen once at the start of the season when teams set their 22 man rosters.
After that teams should be able to send players down and call them up without waivers.

Justin Braun could be a useful depth guy. 100 games PO experience. He doesn't produce anything offensively but is very solid in his own zone. Some concern about foot speed.
If Flyers retain half his salary, would be a solid addition.

It has a good top end at the very least. Rounds 1-2 look nice IMO.

That makes a ton of sense. Perhaps there should be a two tier system where 23-26 yo guys only have to clear at the start of the year and can then move back and forth freely, but players who meet UFA requirements must clear waivers...
And maybe 2-way contracts should always have to clear waivers, since a player takes a big financial hit when they go down.

I always thought he was prone to mistakes in watching him as well when he got called up at the beginning, but you could see his skill. Just needed more confidence and some more ice time I guess. And..Darryl.

If the Flames want to keep accumulating former canucks, pending UFA Troy Stecher might be a decent depth Dman addition. He's struggled with injuries this season, but he's always been sneaky good.
Also, Robert Hagg if they want to keep collecting Swedes.

He still makes some pretty bad mistakes, but he’s good at recovery and has a class A partner. But moreover, IMO Sutter forgives mistakes as long as players are generally responding to coaching.

The biggest issue I see and this has been a good problem to have is we haven't had the need for a 7th defenseman this year. Will Sutter trust these players in the playoffs if a injury or two, "knock on wood" does occur, or I am thinking wrong about that? I just wonder if he and the GM are going to want a veteran to come in on the LD and be the 7th or 8th Defensemen.

Is Stone going to get some games in? Probably not with the way the blue line is playing.
Maybe a conditioning stint with the Heat?

I don't disagree with your broad point, but Kinnvall is totally unproven right now and probably not on the "internal list of NHL depth".
I see it as
Valimaki
Stone
Mackey
Gravel
Which seems sufficient, but really depends on how the organization views Valimaki and his ability to step in. My sense is perhaps they don't see him that way thus the need for a depth dman at the deadline.
