Really doubt you see Lewis taken out of the line up.
Sutter loves the guy and trusts him in a lot of situations.

So jacked about this trade, have wanted Toffoli for a long time. Breaking it down, piece by piece:
1) Toffoli comes with term, at a great cap hit of $4.25M - excellent
2) We give up a 2st - likely to be somewhere between 20 and 32. Not nothing, but it's not like it's a top 10, or even around 15.
3) Heineman - would have guessed a 2st and a prospect and if this is the prospect, sign me up! CP voted him 11th best prospect last year, which I think is very fair. And looking at the top 10, there isn't a single one that I would rather have lost before Heineman. I would now also throw in Kerins, Poirier and Sergeev as others I would not give up before Heineman, and maybe 1 or 2 others. So Heineman sits somewhere in the 10-15 range on the prospect list. Anyone not willing to give that up, in order to acquire a top 6 winger on a good contract, is flat out insane.
4) a 5th - sure, whatever
5) Pitlick - this is essentially a cap dump. So Toffoli costs $2.5M this year (then $4.25m the next 2 years)
So a late 1st, a 10-15 prospect, and a 5th, for a top 6 winger on a good contract who comes super cheap this year because of the cap dump.
That is a great deal. And we aren't giving up a roster player, which means Toffoli bumps Ritchie out of the lineup.
Fantastic deal.

Lewis is really good defensively and on the PK. He has actually scored a couple really nice goals so you can tell he still has a hockey IQ.

Exactly. No way Sutter takes out a Stanley cup champion, on a team that has lacked that type of pedigree, and give the spot to a super green rookie having a nice year in the minors. Will never happen.

Yeah that was one of the things I was worried about. A cohesive and tight group, being disrupted by someone new, even though I definitely wanted some top six help. But this signing seems to dispel that fear fully.

This is great news.
This team has need additional scoring depth and a finisher at that. TT is a very good finisher for the price. Last year he pumped the flames numerous times. Now he’s come to roost in a new barn with a familiar farmer. He’s also a guy with some size and a nose for the dirty areas. This will help come playoff time.
TT at his salary is highway robbery. By constructing the team the way they have with the Zebulon deal, the hanifin deal, the JG deal , the Tanev deal, the markstrom deal and the Coleman deal: it means they could swing a another depth buttressing move. It shows the type of negotiator BT is and just how committed this group of players are.
I was really uncertain and downright pessimistic of this teams future at the start of the season but sutter has this group buying in. Now he gets an old soldier from his cup winning days as a reinforcement. It’s the right (rhs) move to make.
Toffoli has the one timer and finisher experience I think this team needed seasons ago.
His term is also a big plus. 2 more seasons at that cap hit is worth the nominal price they paid.
The 32nd pick and a B (utt) prospect in heiny is a good deal to make. Heniy is a wildcard/ lottery ticket. Sure he was trending nicely in Leksand but toffoli is battle tested cup champ top six rhs winger on a terrific deal. IMO you make that move all day. 1st, b prospect and a warm body being paid 1.75 million? How is that not robbery? TT has pedigree and the stats to back up his 200 ft game and finishing abilities. How does that not go for more considering his numbers and cap hit? This is nothing like the Hamonic deal. Hamonic never won a cup and never had the 200 ft game that TT has. Two different kettle of fish IMO.
I like the timing of it too as it gives toffoli a big reprieve from having to be the pro in that habs dressing room as they sink further and further into depressing atmospheres that rebuilding teams can create. This will be a big boost to his confidence.
And it gives sutter time to find a good fit for his Former soldier.
Speaking of Kirk muller, I met him the other day. It was in an elevator and he was wearing his mask. I recognized him instantly. Super humble amd nice man. He offered to help me with my toiling. He said that this group is super low maintenance. We were both surprised by eat breads new found finishing touch but what a classy guy. And he knows TT from his time last year in Montreal. Kirk is such a fantastic assistant coach to have. He’s such a good communicator and he played on the last Canadian team to win Stanley’s mug.
Montreal made good for us by signing TT to that deal, and now are getting good assets back. Pitlick with slot up for them. He may become a serviceable bottom six player again. I hope Heineman aka Assman becomes a player for them. Maybe not a top line guy but an energy guy like armia with some size and finishing ability. Emil was redundant here with all the LHS wingers we have. We needed balance and got it with TT.
Well done Tre for the sutter hire, the Hamilton trade, the Coleman and TT moves.
Amazing timing of the move!
LFG! We want the cup. Best 150 I have spent in a while

Toffoli has 0.70 P/GP. Coleman has 0.45. Admittedly it's a simplistic argument, but surely Toffoli has to have a role in the top 6.

This looks like an awesome addition to the team. Always warry of trading away 1sts, as more often than not rentals don't work out. But TT isn't a rental, slots into a position the team needs depth on, and is a 200 foot player that is already familiar with the coach, system and players. I don't see how this doesn't work out long term and provide great value for what was traded away.
1. The 1st will hopefully be a late one.
2. I personally don't think Henenenem is going to be a better player for us then Bennett was as a Flame (not FLA Bennet FYI).
3. Glad to see some salary go back the other way with Pitlick.
4. And the 5th is nothing to worry about, as the 4th round is where Flames strike gold.
Having this trade go down before the deadline is also a solid move, as it gives much more time for TT to slot in somewhere and to get his legs under him.
Really excited for this move. For the first time in a looooooong while, I am genuinely (but also very cautionsly) optimistic for how this team performs down the run and in the playoffs.
Let's see what Sutter can do!

Ruzicka has replaced Stanley Cup Champion Richardson, so there is a chance, though, I do believe it to be a slim one.

He might be there by the end of the season, but I don't think Sutter will mess with a top 6 that has been working well of late. Hopefully TT can help jumpstart the 3rd (or is it 4th) line. Flames probably need 0.5 goals per game from that line to be successful in the playoffs

Is there any chance TT is moved to the first line, and Tkachuk moves to Monahan's line to help him get his game back?
