Man this feels good. This guy is like a Taylor made suit after reading , hearing and talking to others .

I had no idea this could happen as easily as it seems to have happened.

This guy is buddies with so many guys and has a great reputation with 2 of his coaches .

It's great to see these guys so passionate.

First Jason Labarbera and another coach wanted Vladar....we got him. He's good and I'm pumped.

Next Toffoli ....finally ....players with no hesitation to come here....Flames playing well and 37 games to go before the real season starts .

Fingers crossed we stay healthy but we have some great depth moving forward.

On D we have Stone and Mackey if something

happens.

Our forwards in the system could actually step in and make a difference....I really believe this too.

What an awesome day. Feels really good to be a Flames fan .

Not too optimistic about him because Treliving said he didn’t want a rental. Maybe he goes for it if he thinks he can re-sign

Yeah for sure. I'm not big on rentals either but that's one of the reasons I want Tre to get him, because I think he could be re-signed.

I'm not basing that on anything concrete though. Just that Lindholm is his cousin and we have a good team right now with lots of Swedes.

I could be totally wrong though.

Late to the party, but put me in the camp that loves this deal.

Perfect fit for many reasons, familiar with so many players and Sutter, RHS RW, good defensively, and to top it off is signed to a friendly contract for two more years after this. Really isn't anything to not like about it. And BT gets it done way in advance of the deadline. Really excited to see this team play with improved depth, starting tomorrow.

It's crazy and Tre really didn't give up very much either.

Even got the 1st rounder top ten protected in case things go sideways unexpectedly

Yeah, okay, you might want to spoiler that content next time.

Toffoli can be shipped out as easily as he was shipped in, for a worst case of no effect on Gaudreau/Tkachuk. But I think that's the wrong approach. Good value contracts like Toffoli and Lindholm are exactly what you want to make a top-heavy structure work, and you look to make cuts elsewhere.

In particular, Lucic and Monahan will be easier to move on expiring contracts - a buyer could maybe "double dip" by taking them with other assets after the season, and flip 'em at the deadline with retention.

Toffoli won't be the reason if Gaudreau/Tkachuk leave, but he is a bit of an insurance policy if the Flames try to retool. Or they can just ship him back out for a rebuild.

We are better today than we were yesterday. The drawback is almost entirely in the value of the first round pick.

The more I think about the more I think a Lucic - Monahan - Toffoli line makes a ton of sense for this club. Ruzicka has performed well and could take an added boost in leading a line with Dube on his left and Lewis battling with Ritchie and Richardson for the 4th line RW.

Looch has been playing an incredible role and is a fixture on the 2nd PP unit so rewarding him with some 3rd line minutes while being super comfortable with Toffoli already would be ideal IMO. Added bonus in potentially getting Monahan to open back up 5 on 5 as he’s been showing flashes but Dube and Ritchie have been snake bitten.

Gaudreau - Lindholm - Tkachuk
Mangiapane - Backlund - Coleman
Lucic - Monahan - Toffoli
Dube - Ruzicka - Lewis
Ritchie, Richardson

Chips pushed in....

This is going for it, and the price is substantial. I wouldn't have done this deal, but you have to respect the commitment to go for it. This sends a message to the team that leadership believes in them, and now (this year and next) is the time to make a run at the cup. If you're in management, and you believe in the team you've iced this is the right move, and with their effort this season, this group deserves their shot. If the Flames don't win the cup over the next two years, Treliving will be gone, and the team is another step down the rung in two years. Hard not to acknowledge his resolve.

I respect the compete, finish and professionalism of Toffoli, but I don't believe this makes the Flames faster up front, and that may end up being the fatal flaw. Hopefully I'm wrong and this group can will it's way to a cup, we shall see, but even someone who is not a fan of the deal has to appreciate the commitment to team and fans.

For too long the Flames have been neither fully committed to the present or the future, and that flacid approach produced predictable results. Good on management for being definitive and good on this group for earning this boost.
