The one time Jiri regrets not being a mod anymore.

Oh, and he costs $600k less.

Trading Coleman for Anderson straight up would be a great way to make this team significantly worse just to get a bit younger
I get that you are a big time analytics guy, but the thing that stands out to me, is that Coleman is a guy who just played on back to back Stanley Cup winning teams. He's a had a very good taste of what it takes to win in the playoffs. A big part of why the Flames paid this guy is what he brings in terms of that winning experience.

So for me it makes no sense to get a guy, start winning and look like a playoff team...than trade him for someone else who has a lot less of that experience and a lot of consistency issues. The off ice intangibles are a big reason why they targeted Coleman so hard, and thus far it would seem that he is delivering even if the production has not quite caught up yet.

I personally would be willing to bet that Coleman at the end of this contract will be more effective than Anderson will be at the end of his.

I took today off to nurse the super bowl hangover. A flames trade would make for a great way to spend the day sitting around feeling like crap

Absolutely too high a price to pay. Harvey's tongue is priceless!

I don't actually have a dog in this fight (IMO the contracts are similar value), but is the bolded actually true?

Player A (counting backwards from this year at the top)
CF% oZS%
55.3 50.1
50.5 40.8
47 41.3
46 38.6
46.1 38.9
45.3 34.0
43.4 29.3

Player B
CF% oZS%
50.1 52.5
55.4 61.1
47.1 49.8 (26 gp 1 goal season)
50.2 44.8
53.5 59.7
46.2 46.1

The above was all-situations...I should have done EVS since Coleman has spent more time on the PK. At a glance Coleman is definitely better at EVS, but Anderson doesn't seem notably bad...but maybe some wonks can paint a better picture.

Career EVS numbers:
CF% oZS%
50.5 41.8
vs.
49.8 50.4

I should have styled THEORETICAL like this since it wasn't an actual suggestion (Coleman's NTC), but since the contracts expire the same year they are a valid comparison.
