I dont think hes good at his job at all. He comes off as super arrogant and ignorant. He tries hard to be funny and it comes off as cringy and awkward more often than not. Chalk me up as another that finds him extremely annoying.

The fact is he is by far the weakest link on this team.
I get the criticism, but I think Monahan deserves much more benefit of doubt here. He was easily a $6.0 m player when he earned that contract, and it is through no fault but by disastrously poor fortune that he is not living up to it now. But given how hard this guy works and what he has been through the past three years, it seems to be incredibly premature to be writing him off entirely now. I bet that Monahan will have his chance again to prove the naysayers wrong.

I love Bieksa on the panel. In the hockey media world, the personalities are generally more bland than No Name vanilla ice cream. It's very boring and uninteresting to see compared to other sports. Bieksa actually brings flavour to the panel, and makes watching those segments a bit more interesting as a result.

People think they want to see the player's personalities then whenever they do they get upset. It always entertains me

Need more like Bieksa and Versteeg in analyst roles.

If you listen to Spittin Chiclets the hosts are just like Bieksa. Even more so because they don't have the limits of network TV. Probably the networks saw the success of that podcast and realized fans like those unsanitized, cocky player personalities.

Versteeg is another freedom convoy supporter apparently. Disappointing.

That goes for everything these days.

If you notice talking shows on ESPN these days, a lot of them are just about who can talk louder than the other. I'm not a fan of it, but Disney is smart, and must figure this is what is needed to have viewership these days.

With the Social Media game having nobodies turn into somebodies by having personalities (and knowledge), you can't have boring, purely analytical types on TV if you want to build an audience.

…or we could not let people’s political opinions colour them entirely as a person, and just assess their ability to do their job.

Most hockey players aren't well educated. They're probably more prone to falling into that trap. Maybe we can judge hockey analysis by just that. If he's good at it then we can still acknowledge as much.

I think it's pretty interesting how Andersson, Kylington and Hanafin all have almost identical point totals. Then even Gubranson and Zadorov have decent point totals for what they are.

I think it was Huska who made an interesting point after the game. All of the Flames' defensemen have heavy shots - even if they don't have much offensive prowess otherwise.

It seems like Sutter has instructed all of them to use their shots. For that reason, there's also at least a bit of offense coming from the back end.

Yup....will never understand how someone "hates" someone else because they have differing opinions. It certainly has zero bearing on his ability to analyze hockey and make comments about what he is seeing.

I hated him as a player as much as anyone else, but that isnt what he is doing anymore.

Dude is a real good analyst and speaks in layman terms. Not sure what else he should be judged on.

Of course Monahan’s stats make him look sheltered. He’s not on the checking line or the top line. Those are the lines that typically get matched against tough opposition. I think it’s not Sutter sheltering him to hide him. It’s a function of what line he’s on.

I miss Heather Liscano.
I miss Susan Smith. Best Flames anthem singer, ever. Wonder what she is up to these days?

I dislike anthems in general but I like them better when a talented kid sings them. I’d be on board with students of the various vocal teachers getting a spotlight..
