Feel bad for Isles fans, that ATL was depressing. But if they want to rebuild, they can have Monahan, a 1st and their pick of the litter for Barzal. A guy can dream.

I think Monahan is skating as well as I've ever seen, it's his decisions w the puck, off mark passing, when to shoot, not getting a clean shot off, positioning without it and failure to come out with it on board battles that are the problems with his game to me.

He would’ve had to have said “38” for it to be considered “about” 40.

37 at a push.

I felt let down by your post.

IMO Pavelski or Miller could allow them to push one of those teams 7 games, if the rest of their game is tight.
Our goal differential is better than Tampa, and not far behind the top 3. I think we'd stand a chance as is.

I do think we need another reliable scoring weapon to challenge the top teams. Would love to add basically any of the mentioned players. Preferably a RHS. Toffoli, Hertl, Pavelski, Giroux, etc. basically any would be gravy.

I'm never going to make Monahan into more than he is.

But really he had two point blank chances against Toronto and another last night.

Two of those go and suddenly he's part of the secondary scoring story.

On the Flames little run (say 11 games) he's got a 66% xGF%.

He's playing pretty good hockey, not generating much, but getting better at not giving up much as well.

Why does he talk with a valley girl accent? is he missing teeth?

Imagine you were a Flame playing against him. He starts chirping at you during scrums and what comes out is Alicia Silverstone from Clueless. lol

"Why did you slash me and hit me from behind you effing Neanderthal??"

"As if!!!!"

i agree, he has genuine hate for the flames but he generally calls it like it is. Always struck me as a meat head during his playing career I'm surprised how articulate and funny he is.

I can't stand Bieksa. He is arrogant and condescending, and not particularly funny or clever. When the other panelists laugh at his bad jokes, or at his back-handed compliments (which are frequently quite mean), it looks more like they are laughing because they feel they have to.

You have a very jaded view.

He is great at his job....maybe the best ex player they have ever had in that kind of position.

Nah he's a dude bro...maybe some people like that but it's not for me.

He has been saying all year that the Flames will be a good playoff team, he likes the Flames now that some of his buddies are on the team he has been complementary all year. Total dbag though IMO.

Elliot friedman used to be a 'news only' guy. But with his podcast etc he's getting more opinionated. And he's off base half the time. Hate to say it but Kevin is more even keeled

Yeah, I pay attention to the advanced stats as well, the thing is Monahan is getting super cushy assignments. Hes not out there doing any sort of heavy lifting, he doesnt go up against the McDavids and hes completely sheltered with offensive zone starts.

It's great when the team is winning and as you said he isnt necessarily hurting the team but he is now our 4th line center. The third highest paid player on the team has 7 even strength points in 45 games and a team worst -13. It's quite telling when a league min rookie Ruzicka is about to easily out point him with 6 points in 14 games.

The fact is he is by far the weakest link on this team.

I agree that he is well suited for the part he is playing on TV, but that does not change my opinion of him at all. The guy comes across like a dick. He came across like a dick when he played, when he spoke to the media, and now when he is condescending his way through game intermissions by belittling his co-panelists.

I have worked with guys like him before, and I hate it. If that makes me "jaded," then so be it.

He's certainly made everyone forget about Richardson. Monahans trade stock has improved and Rudzica didn't look out of place 3 weeks ago and sure doesn't now. Am I still a making a poor take on the center position?
