If he retires there’s a cap recapture penalty and LTIR is cap savings

If you can get Brazal for the last deal, you take it and run.

Just a hypothesis about the Chiarot rumor. Brad has a history of trying to make hockey deals with his top 4 defensemen. He got good value out of Hamilton and attempted to turn Brodie into Kadri and also the rumored Hanifin/Bennett for Hall/Vatanen trade. So what I'm thinking, is he's trying to package one of our second pairing D, Hanifin or Andersson, for a top 6 forward like Giroux in a hockey deal. And then, he would pick up Chiarot as depth. Don't see why else he would be looking at Chiarot when Stone and Valimaki are both healthy.

Do not want any part of that chain. I hope they don't mess with the defense that is working. Forwards or stand pat.

Going to blow up the middle 6 and add some D depth with 2 trades here (one is in the Lebrun thread slightly tweaked) and add to the 4th line as well
Monahan+Pitlick+Pelletier+Valimaki+1st for Dvorak+Toffoli+Kulak
Dube+2nd for Kapanen+4th
Rudzicka+4th for Jarnkrok
Gaudreau-Lindholm-Tkachuk
Mangiapane-Dvroak-Toffoli
Coleman-Backlund-Kapanen
Lucic-Jarnkrok-Lewis
Hanifin-Anderson
Kylington-Tanev
Zadorov-Gudbransen
Markstrom
Kulak and Stone bring good D depth and the top 9 is really deep in my opinion

That's a lot of upheaval for team that is winning. Do you mess with the chemistry that much?

has anyone watched Dvorak and thought "damn that play was impressive"?
Honest question.

There’s speculation that he’s fallen out of favour with Coach Sullivan, due to a string of games a week or two ago where his ice-time was dwindling.

IMO, Dvorak is overrated. Very vanilla.

I've never seen anything but a third liner. Good one at that but if he's your second line C your team isn't going far. Way too inconsistent.

I am only fixing the biggest problem with the team which is the forward group outside the top line.
The Jarnkrok trade was a late addition so take that one out
Monahan and Dube are the only regulars being moved out and 3 top 9 guys are added
Coleman and Backlund stay together, top line stays together, I don’t think it is that much upheaval

I am a firm believer in selling high, regardless of the asset, I thought we should have traded both Kiprusoff and Iginla after "the run". Can you imagine what we would have gotten back? And I am sure that I will get a fresh one ripped for this...Yikes.
Rask is gone, Marchand has to be on thin ice, Debrusk wants out.
Bring back Gio, then Markstrom, Monahan, Hanifin for Marchand, Hall, Debrusk. This will clean up the Monahan contract, might be enough room to sign both JG and Matthew, if not move Matthew to Columbus for Laine + +. Gio slots back in seamlessly.
Can our back up step it up?...he has the size/tools and is cheap.
