It's not unlike wearing a medallion on your neck... you're not supposed to wear it as a casual accessory... but it's still nice to be able to wear it to a team reunion or something.

Thing is, they’re not even wearable to such an event. At least not for more than the photo.

Unless you've won four championships and it's an event where brass knuckles could come in handy.

Totally fair. Though I'd say if you want to wear something gaudy you shouldn't let society stop you - let your freak flag fly man!
Personally, I'd prefer a toned down ring, but also an ostentatious wrestling style belt to cover both bases!

Oh, for the record, I was just talking in general. Something like these gaudy championship rings would have to be a custom commission with such a vision in mind, and I think that's why I appreciate them. It's not exactly something you can pick up at The Bay or even the Burberry store. It wouldn't even be something that you'd find at a dedicated jeweller. It would have to be something you envision from the ground up started at the CAD stage (or even earlier, hand drawings).
For myself in particular I wouldn't let society stop me, but I also don't even like the feeling of metal on my skin, so I typically don't wear anything (not even a watch the last decade) outside of big events. And even there, the cost of all those melee diamonds to bling out a men's ring would get up there qiickly. So I'm not necessarily speaking for myself. Just saying - in general I think mens' rings are ugly AF and we're basically an afterthought in designers' eyes. So I appreciate that there are designs built from scratch to be exclusively worn by men, and they're not just ugly traditional mens' rings.

He's heating up lately. Looking more and more like the 5 million dollar man we hoped he'd be!

Even when he wasn't putting up points, he was doing other things away from the puck. You win with players like this.

Yep, his PK work has been incredible
also a guy you want on your side in the playoffs...a team with Tampa's depth was playing him 18 mins a night in the playoffs

That second line is finding chemistry. Backlund has been quite instrumental IMO, even though he might not be finding his way on to the scoresheet as regularly as Coleman.
Like the feistiness Coleman brings to his game too

He's the anti Neal.
Expected to be a second-third line guy, all conditioning and defensive awareness with a compete level AND goal scoring capabilities.
Treliving has really learnt from his free agent mistakes, with Coleman, Tanev and Markstrom being the proof.

I don't want to pile on Backlund but that line would produce much more if he could hit the net when presented with quality scoring chances. I have never seen a player with a less accurate shot as when he misses it's not even close a lot of the time.

Come on. He hit the corner of the arena on that one wide open shot he had. Baby steps.

I would sign up for 20g/20a for Coleman this year --- suddenly a career high in points!

Ha ha ha. One of his many misses last night was just so bad. He was close in and still managed to miss the net by five feet or more.

Both he and Mangiapane need to hit the net.
That said, Backlund was instrumental in recovering and distributing loose pucks that lead to both of Coleman’s goals as well as Tanev’s.
