I've said before and I'll say it again, the real heavy lifting in the Red Wings organization was done by Jimmy Devellano.

Spector had an article yesterday as well with some surprising notes coming from him. He admitted the oilers are a mess, that they'd allow genghis khan on their team if he could help them, Tippett is riding his two stars more than anyone else in the game, and that best case scenario is the oilers milk kane for his production this year then let him go in July and not keep him.
Also mentioned they are in need of goaltending, but left out how horrible their defense is.
At least somebody in the Edmonton media has some sense of the reality of this move and isn't welcoming him with open arms.
Between the TSN interview and the oilers appearance today you'd think he'd express some kind of regret for his actions. Nope- 'it's in the past, I've done my time'. Doesn't come across but anything as smug, arrogant pr***. If I were an oilers player (aside from the wonder twins) I'd not be too welcoming to this clown.

Do you support it or not?
How does this alter your impression of the Oilers organization, if at all?

Colour me surprised!
I personally might actually be in literal Nicaragua after yesterday, because well firstly, Edmonton's climate is awful, but secondly this might be the most shameful & embarrassing low the organization has ever reached.

He's not, just like Chia wasn't or Tambelleni. They get left alone half the time, but when an idea comes from up above them, which shouldn't in the first place, they know they have to jump.
It happened when Lowe wanted to express his 1985 line in the sand on the code and rewarded Kassian with an immediate extension, and it happens again when they see a player that can maybe help them in the ice, but is a total liability off it...both for the long shot hope he can drag them in, along with the proof to McDavid that the organization is doing all he can to help.
Lowe has insulated himself as Holland will be the one blamed in the media for these moves.

My guess is that there are likely a few "undocumented" creditors that Kane also owes money to that would be front of the line for his health and safety.
On the other points, it really is surprising from Spector. Jones and Matheson's silence has been deafening as well, considering the slightest breeze will have them waving the pom poms.

December 7 is so far away that opinions could have been actually snail mailed. So no post office there either.

Or the other answer might be that this outcome is essentially the 'settlement' - ie. the grievance goes no where in exchange for no punishment/the investigation time delaying his signing was punishment enough.
Or maybe they let Kane spin the wheel of supplementary discipline and he got lucky.
Not saying I agree with any of the above, just ideas.

This still is not acceptable on any level. If there was no disciplinary reason for the Sharks to void his contract they have to have a cap penalty. Otherwise the precedent is set for wealthy teams to just buy out any contract they no longer want with no repercussions whatsoever. Why is this part of the Kane saga not getting more media attention?

Yup, I call shenanigans. The NHLPA should be pissed. If this is a one time thing, then other NHL teams should be pissed too allowing San Jose off the hook for like $7 million of cap hit.
I do think Kane sues or settles with San Jose for a lot of money though. People can hate him all they want, but he might have a case here if the facts are what they seem to be.

Kane has lost a lot of essentially guaranteed income and the sharks got out from a sizeable cap hit. How does that work exactly? Even a settlement without cap impact essentially gives cap back with zero impact on the sharks.
