While I kind of think Scorp is overhyping Phillips I'm coming around to the idea of giving him a shot with the big club. They could use some scoring and he would help PP2.

I don't think I'm overhyping him. I don't see Marty St. Louis here. I just see a guy who could feasibly push play better than the likes of Nordstrom/Ritchie/Richardson/Pitlick. Maybe get 30-35 points in a full season.

If they bring Phillips up, they need to give him some time in the top-6 to see what we've got. It's a waste of time to put him on the 4th line.

Put him with Backlund and Mangiapane or Coleman?

I'd watch that for a few games.

When asked what Phillips needs to do to be an effective NHLer he replied with I don't know. I assume this is due to the fact that his size and the way he plays as described by Love himself would be extremely hard to translate to the NHL.

Sure I'd like to see him get an opportunity, but he would need to be in the top 6 and the Flames top six is already small.

Imagine him going into the corner hard against Nurse or other similarly sized tough to play against NHL defenseman?

His numbers were probably a little unsustainable. Hopefully just "part of the process".

Phillips scores late in the third, moving ahead of Pelletier to stand alone atop the Heat leaderboard both in goals (12) and points per game (1.04).

Heat lose 5–2.

Get him in!

Did you see who was centering Phillips line? I heard they started with Kirkland, Gawdin and Tuulola

Was a tough night at centre. Zary appeared to leave the game very early on and then Gawdin missed much of the third (although he came back). Philp is in protocol.

If I had to say Phillips had one most frequent centre, I guess it'd be Froese?

Wolf!. His pro career is now bookended by regulation losses!

I was certain he was never going to lose a game in regulation again!

I hope it's not a knee (or at least the same knee) issue with Valimaki.
Anybody know details of his injury?
