Contenders you could argue have three lines that chip in consistently. Average teams have 2. Oilers have 2/3 of a line

EDIT: and he creates the play that leads to his team’s second goal. Seriously, anyone who doesn’t think Gio wouldn’t help the Flames should get bopped on the nose.

Hitting has an impact in general but using it as a metric to compare players is pointless.
It's not a projectable statistic and it's actually usually the team that hits more that tends to lose, because they have the puck less.

Lack of call on the trip on the opening faceoff was inexcusable. It artificially created a 5 on 3 with only one defenseman. That one was entirely on the refs.

I do agree with you, and I'm not comparing Ritchie/Pitlick in this instance, but in the Playoffs I would take a player who hits incredibly hard and wears down their opponents but has average possession numbers over a player who's merely just there and has no effect other than good possession numbers
|

Seattle is crazy inconsistent and probably will trail off in the later stages of the game.
Flames are coming in cold and confined to their homes. I don't know what about that screams dominant start to you.
Was going to be tough to not miss a beat. They going to need probably 3 games to get close to a rhythm again.
Until then you just hope we snag points.
