There, their, they’re. People don’t like being told what to do. Discussing Covid in the correct Covid forum is equal to getting double vaccinated.

But mostly it's a lack of understanding (while projecting that the vaccinated lack understanding) and/or education and it's literally killing thousands of people and prolonging our return to normalcy as a society.
Either way, your frustration is very misplaced.

If your idea is to coddle them or even just reason with them, I can safely suggest that coddling does not work with how far gone most not willing to get vaccinated are. They are down rabbit holes that allow for no interjection, facts or debate.
You are a sheep, I am a sheep and they will not be moved off their position that getting a vaccine is both an egregious risk and breach of freedom, and it's all rooted in complete bull****.
End of disheartening, tragic story.

Yeah 95% are but be smart and side with the 5%

There were some posts in the thread a while back that said most of the Flames players and staff were asymptomatic or had mild symptoms, while a few had moderate symptoms.
I think for the most part, they try to respect their privacy though and don't release more information than they need to.

The most intriguing unknown—the one in which we might like to place our hopes—is whether Omicron could be milder than Delta. But a milder, more transmissible virus can easily sicken so many people that it ends up increasing hospitalizations and deaths on the whole. Here is some simple math to explain the danger: Suppose we have two viruses, one that is twice as transmissible as the other. (For the record, Omicron is currently three to five times as transmissible as Delta in the U.K.—though that number is likely to fall over time.) And suppose it takes five days between a person’s getting infected and their infecting others. After 30 days, the more transmissible virus is now causing 26, or 64, times as many new cases as the less transmissible one … If we are banking on the idea that Omicron is more mild to get us through winter, then we had better hope that it’s really, really mild.”

Looks like things worked out exactly as they were supposed to. Anti-vaxxer got really sick while vaccinated did not.

I think that the concern over certain privacy is counter-productive to understanding this pandemic.
There is no privacy when you have to present proof that you are vaccinated.
In a case where over half of a unique population has been identified and publicized as testing positive there should be more details available to help the masses understand what we are dealing with.
On the surface the information that the 32 people in what would be a small bubble have covid should provide a treasure trove of information.
This group has the best medical attention and testing protocol in the world
How many people are in the group covered by the Flames covid protocols?
Is the infection spread rate over 50% ?
Have covid anti-viral drugs been administered?
Has any of them required the equivalent of hospital care? or even ER visits?
How many of the infected people were symptomatic to the point where they missed a full day of training?
why would this group be different than a group of police, firemen, Costco workers? ie Is this group of 60 representative of other bubbles of 60 closely contacted people? If any group of 60 underwent the same testing as the Flames group would we find that half of them have covid?

As a side note, fever is a big deal for athletes, as strenuous exercise during infections can cause scarring of the heart tissue which has a cumulative effect over time... but awareness of this right now is where concussions were 20 years ago.

Yup just driving from Seattle to Vancouver.. Wonder if the rules are different for driving? Like you guys are saying, if I'm going to need a test coming back and my kids would have to be quarantined for 2 weeks in Canada, we couldn't go..
Hopefully driving over is different..

I think another big picture concern is that a virus that can propagate and transmit so easily, can also mutate more. Just statistically speaking, the more people that get infected and pass it on, the more chances new variants appear. That's why it is so important to control or prevent the outbreaks. Even if the disease the virus causes is relatively more mild this time (and I am not saying it is or isn't), it doesn't mean that variants that arise from this outbreak won't be worse. This particular virus is still pretty new to humans.

My aunt had major issues getting back from Seattle to Victoria. She got her test before coming back, but the results are only valid for 24 hours and she was still on the Clipper when it expired. The dumb thing was that her actual test was about 2 hours after her appointment. CBSA was kind enough to let her back into Canada, but US border services were pretty frank with their warning. She was also asked to isolate after returning, which isn't required if you fly.
It's very strange. I wouldn't go.
