Shoot. Too bad on Backlund. I was hoping we'd have a full roster for Dec 27 vs Edm. But to fit the 10 day quarantine in, yesterday was the last day he could've tested positive.

Who exactly are they putting at risk by continuing to play. They’re not even sick. If it gets bad - do it without fans.

Don’t you think at some point we’re going to “have” to resume a semblance of normal life, risk-managed of course. Maybe we’re not at that point. But continuing to play hockey, even with no fans if necessary, isn’t going to move any kind of COVID risk needle.

The key part that I agree with is "at some point". But right now may not be that point, and to that end, hockey isn't necessarily the first thing that needs to be brought to whatever the new normal is. I wouldn't be surprised to see that a tightening of the border is coming, although frankly, it seems too late to put that cat back in the bag.

But yeah, hockey without fans isn't necessarily going to move any needles. Although it does require a not-small number of people crossing borders and sharing "moist" air (as Trudeau called it, way back when) in close contact with other international travelers. Which is one of the reasons why it's ripping through the NHL teams right now (IMHO). We'll see if their new "daily testing" helps with that, I guess.

If we want a semblance of normal life, wear a mask and get vaccinated. The only risk we have is filling hospitals. Doing both of these things reduces that possibility entirely.

It has to be a kn95 to be effective use of masking. Since they have finally decided its airborne.... a non KN95 will not prevent spread, they are only effective at reducing droplet transfer. There are a lot of things still we are not supposed to talk about.


It will be pretty interesting to see if we have a spike in cases caused by the last flames game though. I have seen a video previously showing on ice air circulation as being very poor and hanging inside the glass.
