If you don't like it, dont click on it or read it. If I want to make a post I will. Move the whole ####ing thread to the sub forum. I'm just as tired of it as you are.
Thats the response I got from the covid fanatics when I asked them to move their discussion to the sub forum thread months ago.

As a Mod I was really hoping you'd listen and just do what's already been asked by another Mod or two already.
NHL Covid stuff is fine here. General Covid rage/anger/discussion goes in the other Covid forum. Thanks for your cooperation.

Hard to see the NHL or the world shutting down for a variant that is relatively harmless...hopefully this whole thing will end soon. Social unrest has peaked imo. Hockey and other normal things reduce unrest. Don't really have a point, just don't want the season canceled.

I don't think there's any evidence it's relatively harmless. Also, even if that is the case of only a few serious outcomes, with the sheer volumes that will be effected, this number will be huge and compound problems in an already stretched healthcare system.

Just curious, I read up on quite a bit of the research and I don't know you can say this definitively, where are you getting this information? Some VERY preliminary studies with very small sample sizes appear to show it may be less virulent in (?vaccinated) adults, but there have also been UK studies showing worse outcomes in children. I don't know how anyone can make a concrete claim without further evidence and research.
It is not just mortality that makes covid so bad, it's how contagious it is, and how quickly it overwhelms public health care systems. Alberta's EMS system right now is failing, with hospitals not far behind, and that is during a down trend in infections.
If you are fine with just letting people die of preventable illness and injury so you can watch hockey, just come out and say it.

With the caveat that they may HAVE to pause the season because teams can’t ice rosters, I’m going to be pretty pissed if they pause it for other reasons or cancel it.
Go back to no fans if you have to. The players are all vaccinated and have minor or no symptoms. We have to keep moving at this point.

Would love to debate you, but you're not talking about hockey, and trying to condemn me as killing people already...enjoy the block.

Its about managing risk.
Lots of things are preventable and can cause illness/injury, but we do still it.
Covid is going to be with us for the long term, so we need to learn to deal with it.

I'm confused. Why do we "have to" keep moving? We're in another sh*tshow situation, and there's not enough science put together to give an answer on where things are trending (besides a wave of cases is coming). We don't know how big that wave is going to be, or what percentage of people are going to need medical support.
But what we do know is that grown men playing games for our entertainment isn't exactly on the critical path here... I'm all for hunkering down for winter and watching hockey, but it's not going to be life-changing if it doesn't happen.

Agreed it’s not life changing. And agreed we don’t “have” to. It’s the expression I used I guess to say that I believe we should.
Who exactly are they putting at risk by continuing to play. They’re not even sick. If it gets bad - do it without fans.
Don’t you think at some point we’re going to “have” to resume a semblance of normal life, risk-managed of course. Maybe we’re not at that point. But continuing to play hockey, even with no fans if necessary, isn’t going to move any kind of COVID risk needle.

I wonder if it’s overwhelmed because they fired staff that wouldn’t let them force them to inject short tested vaccines into their bodies? There are quite a few of those sad stories going around.

4% of all employees. 1% of doctors. Most of the holdouts are casual workers.

Answer: No. Next question.
And there aren’t “quite a few stories” like that. As of November 96% of AHS staff were vaccinated. 99% of physicians.
It’s overwhelmed because unvaccinated patients are taking up beds which would otherwise be used for normal procedures. This isn’t opinion. It’s documented fact.

Republican (even though in Canada) mind-bottled nimrod?
Possibly.
For the 10 millionth time, the vulnerable population is NOT "small"...but go ahead believing that.
The 5-million plus dead in the world, and the 30,000 dead Canadians argue against that.Young people with "long COVID"argue against that. Young dead people do too...but go ahead believing your crap.
PFO.
This thread was actually about hockey and the trials and tribulations of a hockey team, but seems to have been overrun by a few trolls who still think that some alien disguised as a government has flattened the earth, changed time into a mutable mud pie and are intent on enslaving everyone.
(can you tell I'm kinda fed up with this crap?)
For the record: I don't disagree that our political leadership, be it provincial or federal, and regardless of locale, is generally "inept"...but it has nothing to do with COVID.
OK ... I'm going back to make another Manhattan....it's been a long day and it's so &^%**&$#@ cold in Calgary - I'd much rather be back home in somewhat warmer BC. Ugh.
Meanwhile, in another timeline: Go Flames Go!

Reason: Yah...crap...fat fingers with the extra 0. Total is 30,029 in Canada. Crap again. On the other hand, the point stands...

Conspiracy theory: Maybe once a few key guys were diagnosed, Sutter made a bunch of them contract it so they wouldn’t be in the situation Boston is in tonight.
Seriously - assuming they all get healthy, this is a better team outcome.

Like a chickenpox party?
On a positive note (no pun intended) they will have reached team Hurd immunity. Safely with the vaccine and preferably a mild variant.
