Also Mangiapane on a 2 on 1 with 4 minutes to go and he makes a high risk pass to Backlund? Who even if he receives the pass has a worse shot than Mangiapane?
Really weird choices.

That Mangiapane chance was a head scratcher for sure. I don’t think he even looked to shoot or attempt at all…it was a pass all along to Backs. It’s too bad, he had a lot more time and room to shoot than he realized.

He's 6th in goals saved above expected per 60 minutes (among starters). I believe he was #1 at one point and is slipping.
Expecting him to make a pretty routine save.in OT is not unreasonable.
EDIT. Goofed up the quote.

Tonight it sure was. But it seems like there have been a ton of nights where we sat here and talked about how the Flames outplayed their opposition yet didn't come away with the win.
That said, if you told me at the beginning of the season that this team would get off to a 15-6-6 start, I would be bouncing off the walls.
Big game on Saturday. Get after it Flames!

Anderson on that back end is getting hard to watch. Overall we deserved a better outcome. No puck luck today

That felt like a playoff game.
Quietly, monahan is finally getting some scoring chances.

It was a good game to watch and the crowd seemed hot as well through the tv anyway.
Carolina got lucky with the puck luck tonight, I thought that first Flames chance that nearly went in should have been reviewed because it looked like it might have been in.
We got a point so that's good.

The only good part about losing was that they almost won.

Flames deserved to win against a top 3 team in the league. Still managed to get a point after some grade A Bull####. Still leading their division and playing great hockey. Sucks that it's a 3 game losing streak but a bounce or two and we're looking at something totally different. Cant be too upset...Oh, and the Oilers lost for the 4th time in a row. Despite getting 2 PP goals and being on another extended home stand...Overall things are going in the right direction.

wat? the guy was 1 on 1, lost the puck, drove the net (and the goalie back into the net) and got a bounce
routine lol seriously guy...that is an unreasonable take, it wasn't even a shot...guy who scored admitted it was just a lucky bounce
Markstrom allowed one goal in regulation, needed a shutout for a win...that absolute last guy to blame in this game

Attended the game. Flames deserved better. But the OT goal was two guys who didn’t want to cover Aho and basically said “no you do it” to each other.

And the Flames are playing playoff style hockey. Sutter has complete buy in from the players and it's showing on the ice.

The puck went right through Markstrom along the ice. Where is this bounce? If his stick is on the ice it's an easy save.

worst take of the night goes to...Aho lost the puck, pushed Markstom into the net, it hits Markstrom's pad and then off Aho's shaft and in
Lucky goal, the goal scorer said as much he didn't even shoot it

You can go through every goal on every goalie ever and in hindsight say how it could have been stopped. I don’t see what goalie plays that rush like you suggest.

“Puck luck” seems to come and go in waves. They’ve had times this season when everything seemed to go their way. Now it’s evening out.
The good news is that they are playing good, fundamentally sound, defensive hockey. And getting exceptional goaltending (other than the Sharks game).
If they keep up the effort and attention to detail, the luck will turn around and this losing streak will come to a quick end.

Rather get a point then lose 2-1 in regulation, point is a point and it adds to their lead in the division.

Monahan -1, 1 shot on goal, 3 giveaways, no takeaways and almost 5mins on the powerplay and a 44% face-off rate.
