Really, all that's missing outside of a bit more consistency is the ability to pot that one more goal when needed.
Since we won't have Eichel to entice Johnny and Matthew long term, we'll need some playoff success.
I would be for trading some decent chips for Laine if he can be attained. But there are plenty of options out there.
|
I would like to give the Flames the benefit of the doubt since they have been scoring a decent amount (and I know some players have very high shooting percentages).
What concerns me is that almost everyone in the organization is healthy. No injuries except Kinnvall? Maybe a few prospects?
So this is basically as good as it's going to get in terms of scoring depth unless someone is acquired, guts like Monahan rebound, or a lot of development occurs.
I'm not saying they should get a rental, that's almost never a good idea, but a trade could make sense.

I would love Toews on this team, he would make a hell of a difference down the stretch and into the playoffs-I just don't think that Chicago would be willing to eat the kind of salary it would take to make sense.

Man, I thought Toews stated very publicly he would rather retire than play anywhere else. Maybe I made that up. But I don't think I did.

Yeah, I remember reading that somewhere as well.

He publicly stated that he was pissed about the Blackhawks deciding to rebuild a few years ago, but also said that he never considered asking for a trade, and that he wanted to win there. Not sure if he said that he would rather retire...

He's welcome to go ride off into the sunset with Stan Bowman after defending him.

Toews is a POS human. No to him on the team.
What about trying to rob the stars after a brutal start? Gurianov? Klingberg?

Since neither is available as each has indicated they have no desire to leave Chicago, why not talk about realistic targets?

Teams that get off to bad starts, don’t tend to give away their best players.
If the Stars decided their team was no longer working, they would try and move out Seguin, Benn, Pavelski etc.

Thank goodness Flames management doesn't listen to this forum or we would have traded Gaudreau, Tkachuk and Markstrom in the last two years for peanuts!

We probably would have won the cup though. Twice.

Comeau looked done when he was in Calgary. Can't believe he's still in the league a decade later. Honestly, props to him. Very impressive job forming a long journeyman career.

I’d be interested in Ryan Johansen if there was retention of 1.5MM from Nashville and then loop in Arizona to see what the price would be to retain another 1.5MM on that deal….for Yan Kuznetsov??
Would Monahan be enough for Nashville?

The Heat are off to an incredible start. I'm hopeful that translates into having some NHL ready players vs. scouring the waiver wire for depth.

I want no part of Klingberg, great pick mover, terrible defensive player. Like really bad.

Arizona is not going to cover $6M worth of cap for Yan Kuznetsov LOL.
Maybe if Calgary threw them a 1st rounder.
Now Nashville would likely dump Ryan for Monny due to the cap savings.

Wow! It has been a decade since Comeau played for the Flames, that's unbelievable. Feels like only yesterday I was cursing his name every time he stepped on the ice.

2021/2022 Trade Speculation and Rumours
Screw the Comeau hate, man. The dude’s consecutive orbits around the offensive zone at full stride with the puck were the stuff of legend.

Really? I remember him being a pretty effective player. Nothing fancy obviously, but solid player nonetheless. Seem like he’s carved himself a decent career though since his Flames days though, good for him.
