I can't recall any time Lucic has been terrible. You take his cap hit out of the equation and he was always a good player even on the bottom 6.
Now if he can add more offense, that makes his cap hit that much more tolerable.

Also to think Juuso Valimaki and Michael Stone are munching popcorn right now.
You wouldn't have dreamt it when Gio was snapped up, but the blue line looks as good and deep as ever.

You’re arguing against yourself. Essentially you are saying Treliving built a good team without Sutter in mind.

If Lucic was done after this season I would sign him for 1M
we will see how things look in two years
certainly miles better than I was expecting

I wanted them to hire Sutter when they hired Peters.
I wanted them to hire Sutter when they retained Ward.
I wanted them to hire Sutter instead of Gallant.
The only time I wished we'd hired Gallant was when they hired the other GG.

Whether you like it or not, the Flames have a good roster. Treliving’s biggest fault, has been his coaching hires. This is a good team, that finally has a good coach. Treliving has his faults, but he’s still built a good team.

Flames won 6-0 and are on pace for 128 points
don't make yourself look dumb
Get a new hobby if a 6-0 win doesn't make you happy

Bradley did something good? That's unpossible!
Obviously there must be some other explanation. Fire Treliving now!

The entire Mangiapane after-hours segment was wonderful.
But not as wonderful as Mangiapane going straight after Reaves and giving him a shove after that hit. What a beauty.

I suppose I am. I was just trying to answer the original post as to why 'fire treliving' is still on top after the great start. I agree the roster is pretty good. But I definitely think Sutter is getting the most out of it. It's a long season and playoff success will determine whether they truly are a good team and not just overachieving. And all of the upcoming contract negotiations and/or trades of our stars will determine whether Brad is a good gm or not.

I don't want to get into it, considering I'm one of those people butthurt about not getting Eichel, but:
Darryl Sutter's teams have always had the following:
- Excellent puck-moving defensemen (Whether it was Jordan Leopold in '04, Doughty/Voynov/Muzzin in '12 and/or '14, Kylington/Hanifin/Tanev/Andersson in '21)
- Strong crease clearing PK defensemen (Whether Regehr in '04, Willie Mitchell in '12, or... Gudbranson in '21)
- Two-way centres (Craig Conroy, Anze Kopitar, Mike Richard, Mikael Backlund, Elias Lindholm)
- Centres who bring speed down the middle (Matthew Lombardi, Anze Kopitar, (not the fastest, but his IQ and puck skills made it happen anyways), Jeff Carter, Dillon Dube)
- Sizey Situational centres (Stephane Yelle, Jarret Stoll, Anze Kopitar, ...Sean Monahan? lol)
- Big netfront style wingers (Jarome Iginla, Dustin Brown, Matthew Tkachuk)
- Elite Forwards Period (Jarome Iginla, Anze Kopitar, Johnny Gaudreau)
- Great scoring wingers (Jarome Iginla, Marian Gaborik, Tyler Toffoli, Andrew Mangiapane)
- Clutch AF wingers who have won the cup before (Martin Gelinas, Justin Williams, ...Milan Lucic...?)
And all that, has allowed guys like Kipprusoff, Quick, and now hopefully Markstrom, to have the best seasons of their careers in net.
But Jack Eichel would still have made me a lot more confident that we can hang with the likes of Colorado and Florida, teams who are tiers above this Rangers team.

Happy they are playing well, don't need a new hobby and I guess I didn't make my point very well. The response was to the question of why Fire Treliving is still a hot topic. A great start doesn't negate the fact that many still think he's a very average general manager.

Its just such a terrible take
on pace for 128 points he is not getting fired, move on...its the same couple posters with their agenda. Look at the data!
Guy is so far from the hot seat at the moment its not even worth talking about.
What other top 5 teams should fire their GM?
Markstrom and Tanev and two of the best UFA signings in years...I'm talking league wide

Lot's of young guys in NY. Calgary is different. Need to get the old guys showing the young guys. Then the young guys show the middle guys that they can be replaced. Then the free agent signings and trades working for a new contract. Then the middle guys start to show up.
