If you have two games, and you can only play your starter in one of them, there is a school of thought that you should always start him against the easier opponent because then you've done all you can to "lock up" the 2 points in the game you should win, rather than increase your risk of losing both - one to a tougher team, and one because your goaltender was outplayed.

I'm not sure I believe the Oilers are a tougher opponent than the Flames right now, but the standings do say so.
Oh god you made the Oilers fans day look at the thanks you are getting

they have ONE more point despite a much easier schedule...and that's not even a homer take. Look at the B2B's and the opponents records

And any advanced metrics oilers are average to below average. Flames are the much better team at the moment and it isn't close.

Can't wait until Rangers score 6 goals tonight.

It's funny that the Rangers with their backup is probably the Oilers toughest test 11 games into the season

There is nothing stopping you from turning your TV on to watch Shesterkin tomorrow. Although the Flames will probably make him look human. Again.

I've always thought the idea was - fresh team with a backup and tired team with the #1 - gives them a better chance to win both.

Stastny scores 47 seconds into the game and Pionk scores three minutes later 2-0 Jets after twenty minutes.

Canucks are wearing special jerseys in the warm-up for Diwali. I like the prominent presence of the flames, just to remind them who's better.

Rangers dominating this period, which isn't surprising considering it's been all 5 on 5 play so far.
