Rangers get roasted on twitter by their own fans for the decision.

Feel like the Rangers have two starters. Flames made Shesterkin look human last time out. No worries this time. Watch Georgiev stand on his head tonight.

Guy has sucked this season
Oilers what's this 50% of their games against a backup goalie?

WTF is with every team starting their second or third string goalies against the Oilers. Something seem fishy.

^^ Georgiev? Sure, but I'm still thinking he'll shine against Edmonton. What better time to regain one's form.

Not really. Other teams do this because Edmonton is no good.

Fishy how? When the Rangers play the Oilers, they're usually going to be playing the Canucks or Flames shortly before or after. Clearly, because the Oilers are 8-1, other teams see them as the most difficult opponent of the three.
If you have two games, and you can only play your starter in one of them, there is a school of thought that you should always start him against the easier opponent because then you've done all you can to "lock up" the 2 points in the game you should win, rather than increase your risk of losing both - one to a tougher team, and one because your goaltender was outplayed.
I'm not sure I believe the Oilers are a tougher opponent than the Flames right now, but the standings do say so.

No Shesterkin looked great against the Flames. He made some great saves. We could have scored 10.

The standings may say that but all other metrics say differently. Oilers have had a buttery soft schedule. The Rangers know that and are saving their best goalie for the harder opponent.

I mean, they got 5. What was his SVS before that? He looked human. Not so much before that

I don't really like that strategy by New York. Feels like a losers mentality. They are basically thinking they have less of a chance to win tonight so lets play our star goalie tomorrow. Was looking forward to seeing Shesterkin. Insane goalie when he is on.

You as an Oilers fan would know all about a losers mentality so we will trust your expertise.
