Give it 5 years.
When you read about how we didn’t want to trade Jakob Pelletier and Conor Zary, or sell high on Matthew Coronato as he loopholes his way to the goddamn Bruins, while Eichel is flying around at a PPG+, you tell us how that feels.
They knew he had the neck issue, and they were good with it. It wasn’t a shock. They were in up to this point. And could’ve gotten it done.
And didn’t.
Go #### yourselves.

I know he had 5 assists in 2 AHL games, but I don't understand the Krebs thing. He seems like a good, but not fantastic prospect. I can't imagine why Buffalo would zero in on him so hard.

Yup I’ve been disappointed for 35 years now with this team(except’89) I’m pissed now, and will be even more pissed when Eichel returns from his surgery.

And there is no reason to be. Brad makes his limited moves in the offseason. Once the season starts he stays pat until the deadline when he trades a couple draft picks for some depth players. There was never a realistic chance that he would pull off a major in-season trade. Flames are off to an incredible start, I think that increases the chances that maybe we trade a 1st instead of a 3rd and 4th at the deadline to get a better player for the playoffs.

What's frustraring about this is, as usual, the Flames have driven down the value of their players and prospects. Whether it was failing to retain Brodie a couple years ago, or mishandling Kylington/Bennett last year or not having a role for Monahan, Valimaki, Phillips this year - it just never seems we're in a position to sell high. And by the time these guys come around (you know they will) they'll be pending free agents due for a huge raise. You just know Monahan's gonna score 45 goals next year when we could not care less and we're trying to acquire Bedard.
Contrary to popular opinion, I don't even think region was why we failed to sign Fox. Dougie Hamilton was (Fox even mentioned to Caged Great how tough it felt it would be to crack our lineup). He probably signs here the day Hamilton got traded, but we packaged him WITH Dougie.

This really is the big one for me. Developing key assets especially those from later rounds is great but when you walk their respective contract statuses into positions of strength for the player/agent… all in the same year and all players in the top 6… just brutal asset management. Add that to letting guys like Brodie and Gio walk for nothing and allowing the Bennett situation to turn into what it did… 8 years is looking like 2 or 3 too long for GMBT.

It’s not the first time GM’s have missed the boat and it won’t be the last.

It's going to be cool to have to play Eichel much more often now. Vegas is just the worst.

Yeah Flames asset management has been historically frustrating. No one should be surprised by the reactions here.

If the ask was Tkachuk, Treliving always had the propensity to hang on to current roster players which is why we lost out. Treliving has always been a right now GM.
I'm gutted, not surprised, you have to consider, Treliving came from the Coyotes organization, you think he knows about building a winning team?
