They better get Johnny signed real soon or I’ll be livid .
What tweet? I think I missed it with everything going on.

I'm pretty sure they could place Stone on LTIR, then they would have the space for Eichel. That or there's another player included in the deal.

You hope, but he may very well be, if not better than the same.

A lot of players are dodged bullets. I don't think Eichel at that price tag is.

Get someone in here who is on the ball with these contract extensions and has a plan that involves something bigger than relying on the same guys that couldn't do it for you several times already, and is ready to embrace needed changes without letting sentimentality over players and prospects he drafted get the best of him.

So you want a GM who extends his players but also a guy that doesn't rely on the same players he should have extended.

Makes sense.

lol

Of ####ing course it's Vegas.

So either the Tkachuk +++ rumors were bull#### or Tkachuk's contract status cockblocked us from landing an elite center in his prime.

All I want is for the Flames to win, so if they keep playing like they're playing and continue to win then that's the main thing.

But when Vegas gets healthy, including Eichel, I just don't think the Flames will have the horses to run with them....or any elite team in the league for that matter.

Hopefully I'm wrong because there probably won't be an opportunity to snag an elite center in his prime again anytime soon.

#### you Vegas. God I hate that franchise so much.

Hertl might still be available. The world doesn't end with Eichel.

You guys telling me we couldn’t have added another prospect to get this done? What a effing waste.

What a ####ing joke! It seems Flames aren't allowed to come away with potentially game changing players in a deal. Sick of always being runners up to everything.

I just hope that Eichel is half the player he was once he returns. It's the only way I'll feel a bit better about this.

Hertl is a ufa . Eichel still has 4 more years after this one.

Pretty underwhelming package. Vegas did pretty good here. Eichel is a big upgrade on Tuch and the other 3 pieces may never turn into much. I suppose that argument could be made for the futures we were offering as well though.

well this deal seems pretty underwhelming for all of the teeth gnashing and anxiety it caused LOL. Hope it blows up in Vegas face!

Yes, because you get more for players with term than expiring UFAs, when the time comes to make that move. And you keep the ones that are bringing something that you deem contribute to the solution.

Whether we opt to keep or trade them in the coming year, we are way better off with Tkachuk and Gaudreau having extensions.

The best thing that could happen now within our division is this beat up Knights squad missing the playoffs and having to get rid of a bunch of talent to fit under the cap for next year. I do NOT want to see that Knights roster make the playoffs, it'll just be the Lightning all over again.

Thank God. I swear people around here have their head in the sand just wanting to see a big splash for the sake of a splash.

We have a terrible GM. He should of been fired. He was not. Like it or love it were rolling this core again for his last hoorah. The price for Eichel was way too high for a guy with a busted neck who's career really hasn't been that spectacular. I think if he wasn't no. 2 overall he wouldn't have this hype.

In the end, I feel like we really dodged a bullet here.

Yeah, and the acquisition cost would be more favorable and pay immediate dividends. I've always preferred the idea of acquiring Hertl over Eichel.

I guess the Flames just need Monahan to improve now and become a 2nd line center.

Krebs is something we don't have. Ready to play now unlike Zary or Pelletier, cost controlled unlike Dube or Mangiapane.
Tuch is something we don't have. A 20G guy on less than 5M long term. We do have Mangiapane who might be signed there, but no given.
When you look at the assets Buffalo got its clear long term control is a priority. That balanced with impact sooner.
Is Tkachuk or Monahan a better player? Sure, but they also cost more and have less control. How would it look on the Sabres if Eichel is a top centre and they have nothing left of the deal on their roster in 3 years?
Based on this deal in thinking they guy they wanted from us was Lindholm, in which case I'm glad there's no deal
I wanted Eichel too, but it looks like we were the second choice/ used to put pressure on the other party.

I don't see SJ trading Hertl to a division rival given they'll have plenty of interested teams.

That's a good point. I didn't take Tuch's contract into consideration.

When Eichels back you guys are gonna be bitter.

Its going to suck. Mark my words. You'll look back on this beatable package with disdain.

Hopefully so will Edwards, before he sends Treliving packing.
