It's done at least. Seems reasonable. I hope Eichel's surgery goes well but Vegas can't find him anyone to play with because they just traded one of their best contracts.

Eichel $10M
Stone $9M
Pietrangelo $9M
Karlsson $5.9M
Patches $7M

Edit: I think I speak for us all when I say that I hope Monny lights it up and the flames continue as they were.

As a consumer, sometimes you fall in love with one particular item.

Even though another one might be better for you, or a clerk may try to convince you that you'd like it better, you've already developed an emotional attachment to that first item.

Think that was Vegas with Krebbs, and maybe Tuch as well.

It's too bad the one thing they liked more from Calgary was Tkachuk.

But to be honest.. I would've dealt Tkachuk for Eichel, if the plus wasn't crazy.

Vegas has spent over half their cap on 5 players.

Good luck with that.

It'll be interesting to see how the accounting goes here. I don't see how the dollars work for the cap limitations.

It's very unlikely that Buffalo would have felt that Tuch signed to a long term contract was worth less than the current version of Monny.

Yeah Vegas has some serious work ahead of themselves down the road. But that's a then problem , not a today problem.

All of these contracts are either fine or good.
And the Pacioretty contract ends soon. Plus he's on IR right now.

Even Lehner has a good contract, really.

I figured the Flames were being used to try and squeeze more from Vegas. Very relieved this is over so the team can move forward with Brad Treliving's Calgary Flames so we can find out if Darryl can get them to overachieve or at the very least meet their full potential. He built this team and if it's not good enough then he should walk the plank at the end of the season.

Only way this trade can work is if someone like Alec Martinez is involved. Nobody has reported it but I think he will be involved in the trade.

So you decided the best course of action is to whine about whining... winning move right there.

That said, I agree that criticizing management for not getting a trade done is useless. We don't know how Buffalo/Calgary value the assets being offered.

The management promised change, and even though they didn't pull off any big moves in the off-season we got change. Based on the way this team plays it's not even remotely the same team we had last year. Sutter definitely bought Treliving some rope here.

Finally, I don't agree about Vegas ruining themselves, I think this trade makes them a much scarier team when fully healthy and going into next season. It is a huge gamble for this season, but that's what Vegas does.

If it would have been two firsts instead of one maybe that would have done it.
I can't wait to see what the long term plan is for this franchise and Tkachuk. Letting Gaudreau walk? Building around two expensive wingers again for the next 5 years with him and Mangiapane? I've never seen a franchise so allergic to having a #1C and competing.

Gonna be a shame when we lose out on this and then Johnny walks and Tkachuk iS traded.

What a weak return, Krebs is so overrated it’s hilarious.

The Flames do have a #1 center. His name is elias lindholm and he's been centering one of the best lines this season and last 20 games last year.

I’m a huge fan of Tkachuk, but if Friedman’s tweet is true, then that’s a big fail for Tre. As much as I like Tkachuk I don’t think flames have much of a chance signing him long term . More than likely they are going to have to trade him this summer.

They better get Johnny signed real soon or I’ll be livid .

Eichel is never going to be the same so we dodged a big bullet. Thank goodness this insanity is over

The same life Jack Eichel has lived on the ice since his career started. He sure didn't make Buffalo less mediocre, did he?

He can walk it right now. I'm sick of this guy.

Get someone in here who is on the ball with these contract extensions and has a plan that involves something bigger than relying on the same guys that couldn't do it for you several times already, and is ready to embrace needed changes without letting sentimentality over players and prospects he drafted get the best of him.
