He wants to go anywhere right now.
Besides, the Flames have a great history with US born players.

Eichel would love it here given what he came from.
Was said in the summer but the Flames organization allegedly has a very good reputation among the players.
City preference is what it is, but as far as the team goes and how the team treats its players, Flames are up there.

Crazy trade proposal before bed connecting various rumors and rumblings
To Calgary: Eichel, Tarasenko 50%retained (Buffalo)
To St. Louis: Tkachuk, Monahan 50% retained (Buffalo)
To Buffalo: Flames 1st, Blues 1st, Thomas, Valimaki, Zary

Yeah I dont think the Flames as an organization or players on roster are an issue for him or most players if they want to be treated well. Outside of the previous GMs three year drastic sewering of the Flames reputation around the league, the Flames previously under D. Sutter V1, then Burke, are top notch.
His salary in Nevada is tax free, however.

I hope you guys are right. A 25-year-old American player, with the choice of going to play in, and possibly live in, Vegas or Calgary... I just have my doubts. I love Calgary (as we all do), but I don't think we're a premiere destination in the league, and that's before the tax situation. I'm just curious what Eichel would prefer if he had the choice.

Damn. That Friedman quote has me concerned. I’ve gone far enough down the path that I’ll be really disappointed if we miss out on this trade.

He doesn’t get a choice so what does it matter?

If Calgary didn't have any serious involvement Calgary would've been scratched from the reports and never labeled a finalist, let alone all this Tkachuk/Monahan chatter to follow it up.
I like the idea that Friedman is full of ####. I'm gonna just settle on that assumption. The fact that he doesn't have any specifics to offer himself seems more telling than x team has been "further down that track"

This I will guarantee you...
Adams does not care if Nevada is tax free.

Meh. The faux outrage here directed at BT and the Flames organization will be more tiresome than it already is by a vocal minority, but the Flames have shown that the proper coach instituting the proper system and demanding buy in, and that system works (much like Peters did) cures the perceived talent shortage that the Flames were purported to have. They’ve been the better team in each of their games this year, win or lose.
Eichel has massive question marks as to if he will be 70% of the player he was in Buffalo, this year, next year, and in the long term after this surgery and rehab and the mental side of coming back knowing your neck is fixed with experimental surgery.

If he's traded here, he's locked in for 5 years. And I'm inclined to believe he will enjoy them. Preference is a non issue.

I know that, it’s just relating to the underlying curiosity of the OP as to where Eichel would “prefer” to go.

I mean, I don't mind it, I'd love to see Eichel and Tarasenko together with Gaudreau on the LW. However, I think St. Louis (and potentially us) would have to add. Honestly, I think the Blues make out like bandits if this went down.

So much for the 1 yard line. Are we on the 40 thinking about a field goal now?
